Long live the Queen (of the Desert)

This week marked a Very Special Event in the world of gay films: beloved drag queen epic The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert finally received a much-deserved (and long-awaited) special Extra Frills Edition release, and we took the opportunity to wax nostalgic about the film over on the main page. For its humor, style, and sheer quotability, Priscilla is like a lighthouse in the often over-earnest or downright depressing sea of gay films, and marked a turning point in terms of how gay characters were treated in movies.
