Mores for Gays video blog (110): Gayvorce
It seems as though everyone has gotten caught up in the frenzy of gay marriage, but what about what happens the morning after? We may not be able to run off for a poorly-thought-out quickie Vegas wedding just yet, but one thing is for sure: Gay Divorce is on its way. In fact, the legal and social dilemmas surrounding gay splitsville have already arrived. This week Daniel discusses Gay Divorce with cutie and soon-to-be-big-shot gay divorce lawyer Kerrigan Hennings. Enjoy! Submitted by on Mon, 2009-06-22 10:20. |

Excellent
Another great vlog! I really do enjoy these. And this time around, you made some very interesting points...
(Okay, a bit off-topic, but did anyone else think that Kerrigan's voice sounded exactly like Casey's, from "As the World Turns"?)
I'm like a superhero, with no powers or motivation...
Yeah, I Thought So Too
I think
I think the gay divorce rate will be lower than the straight divorce rate especially in the early years, like from 2003- near future. Most of those getting married then and soon have been together so long the chance of them finding something in their partners so bad that it will lead to divorce are near nill. And most of these couples you can say are older gays... who grew up when being gay was much harder than it is now and faced alot more challenges, and take their new found right to get married more seriously.
However when those in my age group late teens/early twenties, and especially the generation after us, start to get to the age where we will start getting married I think the divorce rate will normalize. Most of had an easier time coming out and continue to have easier times year by year. Most of us won't have to fly cross country to get married when we want to. So in that sense I think the profoundness of being able to get married will slowly tapper off in the years and decades after gay marriage becomes a wide spread right.
The real question is, who will be the first gay Ross? :]
Quote Funny!
"We did everything better than you! Aren't you embarrassed?" LOL! Funny! Kerrigan was a cutie but wasn't he really part of the window dressing?
AAAhahahahah
Informative, hilarious, and cute as usual!
I also agree with Daniel's concern on a possible "step back" if gay marriages broke down faster and worse than straight ones... don't just jump into marriage blindly; be patient and use your heads people! Excellent More at the end, Daniel!
So it's not enough that you are funny and cute and well spoken..
Now you're getting cute guest commentators too. Overachiever.
Nous Sommes Tous Sauvages.
In the end it really
In the end it really doesn't matter, the gay divorce rate could be 1% and people that are against it will still find a reason to be against it. But does the straight 50% divorce rate invalidate, lessen or cheapen the marriages of the other 50%? No, the rate may be high but it doesn't comment on marriage, what makes it successful or what makes it worthwhile in the first place - all it does is say that half of them fail. The numbers do not give a picture on why exactly that is, they can't, so even if the gay divorce rate reflects the numbers of straight divorces it will in no way invalidate, lessen, or cheapen our successful marriages.
