NewNowNext music dispatch: Bjork, Leona Lewis, MGMT and more!
Every Friday our friend Colin over at NewNowNext tips us off to what's hot in popular music, but as we had a few technical issues on Friday afternoon, we weren't able to share them with you until today. (It's okay, it's not like music goes bad like milk or anything.) Video of the Week: Leona Lewis - "Bleeding Love” Simon Cowell’s glowing praise for X Factor champion Leona Lewis was only the beginning of her success: Her Spirit album sold faster than any debut in U.K. history! Now Leona’s ready to break into the U.S. with a remake of the video for her hit single “Bleeding Love” - this one set in Times Square. Bjork video – “Declare Independence” Bjork really gets into her audiences’ heads! With the help of an elaborate speakerphone (and visionary director Michel Gondry), the Icelandic spitfire energizes a group of drone soldiers. Leona Lewis NewNowNext interview After The X Factor, Leona made U.K. album-sales history, and now she and her Mariah Carey-level belting are ready to take on us Americans. The 22-year-old London-native spoke with NewNowNext about her break into the U.S. and bringing her music to a gay audience. TWO New Kylie Minogue videos – “Wow” and "In My Arms" Try to contain yourself ... it’s a Kylie Minogue double-hitter! The Aussie gay icon released two videos this week from her new album, X - in the "WOW" vid she's back to some of her old tricks, but she goes a little more wacky and fun-loving for the second track.
MGMT video – “Time To Pretend” Muse-esque Brooklyn band MGMT throws off “the management” for its debut, Oracular Spectacular. Hope you’re in your right mind when you watch this video; it’s a bit…out there. New Mark Ronson video – “Just” Seriously-hot DJ Mark Ronson’s first major success was his cover of Radiohead’s “Just;” and now he’s remade the music video – featuring multiple Marks! Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. Submitted by on Mon, 2008-02-04 12:06. |
