Nip/Tuck/Sigh: New season promises more gay touch-and-go

I'll admit, I've never given Nip/Tuck a full run for its money, but I've certainly tried. The leering unpleasantness of it all just doesn't appeal to me. It's odd, because gay creator Ryan Murphy's previous series, Popular, is still one of my favorite series of all time. I guess I'd rather watch Leslie Grossman play identical twins separated at birth and Tammy Lynn Michaels run down the prom queen than see transgender teens have their genitals hacked off by homophobic fathers.

This season the fellas open up shop in Los Angeles, and from what the season preview suggests, the gay stereotypes are there to roll out the red carpet. Granted, all the characters on the show seem pretty despicable, so it's not just the gays that are given the short shrift ... at least it's equal-opportunity misanthropy!

    This show reeks of self-hatred

The whole show WORSHIPS straight, middle-aged men who have repeatedly shown homophobic tendencies. The show winks at whether or not they might have feelings for each other, but again and again we are reassured they are straight, or pretend to be, while any gay or bisexual men are treated as sick, perverted, doomed people. I am always amazed at how some gay men still enjoy this show, but I guess that's why Ryan Murphy has lots of male nudity.

So what is the new gay-hate they have ready for this season?

This show has fallen so far creatively and in the ratings, as more and more people have seen through the woman-hating and gay-hating. I guess FX has nothing else left.

    I have to admit

I love Nip/Tuck in all it's bizarre, over the top misanthropy. No body is happy on this show-ever.  They even gave the baby a birth defect. But come on, this is a show where ears grow on mice, people put on Christmas hats to get bags of body parts past the feds, and serial killers have no genitals.  They take themselves about as seriously as Passions does

As for the leads, they are miserable, and lonely and have failed at every relationship they have except each other(that one seems to stand through anything). They've been threatened, blackmailed, mutilated, raped, arrested, molested, found out kids they thought were theirs, weren't, humiliated, cheated on, stood up at the alter-if that's worship, then they definitely need new acolytes.

    Here, here...

As someone who just recently got into the series via DVD, I'm by no means a Nip/Tuck expert...but, I think ceares is on to something. After all, if they painted a perfect/pretty picture of every breeder in the cast, that would be one thing...but they definitely do not!!!

Granted the transgender/genital hacking episode was very disturbing, that was just one scene in one ep. of season 3...

I have a feeling that LA will bring much more to the show and cast for S5...I'm looking forward to it!
