NYC Easter Parade puts Pride to shame

I'm sure that some of you folks celebrated Easter this past weekend, while others ignored it or didn't even realize that it was happening. But I'm sure few of us realized what a sterling opportunity the Easter holiday is to whip up a fabulous drag outfit and hit the streets.

Yes, yesterday's Easter Parade in NYC was a gay old affair, with drag queens and well-heeled "confirmed bachelors" alike donning their best bonnets and joining the celebration. Richard Rothstein over at QueerSighted has posted a hilarious and educational piece on the parade, which also boasts some choice photos. Richard sums up the event thusly:

On my annual exploration of the venerable New York City Easter Parade, I overhead a man, a tourist, whisper to his wife, "I thought this was an Easter Parade; this is more like a cross between Pride and Mardi Gras." You bet your out-of-town Easter Eggs it is.

I've nabbed one of Richard's pics to share above, but you really need to see the full article for some of the doozies. Check it out, and let us know what you think. And if your town boasts a similarly queer Easter parade, we'd love to hear about it!
