Video: Bishop Gene Robinson discusses his Inaugural invite (and beyond) with Rachel Maddow

Yesterday afternoon we mentioned that openly gay Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson would be appearing on MSNBC (Rachel Maddow's show, in particular) to discuss his invitation to speak at the kickoff ceremony for Barack Obama's inauguration.

Check it out above, and see if it affects your views on Robinson's invite in the wake of the Rick Warren brouhaha. And aside from that, let's step back: This is an openly gay pillar of the Episcopal Church discussing politics on national television on a show hosted by an out lesbian. Kudos to both on their continued successes.

Call me juvenile...

But my favorite line of this was when Robinson says "No one had a bigger tent than Jesus!" Goodness! Who knew?

the tent comment...

as soon as he said ""No one had a bigger tent than Jesus", i immediately gasped and started laughing. I just knew people would react to that particular comment..and sure enough, they are.

...aside from that, it was an okay interview. most of his answers didn't make sense to me. i just felt like "oh god, another man actually defending the choice of rick warren" even though he wasn't okay with it...not at first. that is the impression i got, but once you're invited to be at an obama event, it's like "oh, well, i said that, but...now that i really look at it..."
