outTunes: The New Pornographers, "Sing Me Spanish Techno"

I'm a huuuuuge fan of the Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers. Been listening to them since their first album came out over ten years ago, seen them live at least a dozen times, even made a fan video for them a few years back and sheepishly handed it to lead singer A.C. Newman at one of their gigs at Bowery Ballroom. Yes, I'm a loser.

So imagine my surprise when I discovered today while browsing Logo's new Drag History Month website that one of the Pornographers' songs, "Sing Me Spanish Techno" (off the Twin Cinema album), has a video that centers on a very proactive drag queen. The song isn't techno (nor is it in Spanish), and the video is a great little short film that put a big smile on my face. No idea why the band chose this concept (that's bandleader Newman as the drunk at the table), but the video, from prolific director Michael Palmieri, is a keeper.

Enjoy, after the break!
