Philadelpha: Gayest. City. Ever.

At noon today, the city of Philadelphia will conduct a ceremony to unveil 36 special (and permanent) rainbow street signs to designate the "Gayborhood" and celebrate the city's spirit of diversity and inclusiveness. If you live in the city, you should pop on down to the Gayborhood at noon to join the festivities. And if you're anywhere on the Eastern seaboard, you will probably spontaneously grow a rainbow necklace and Pride flag from the sheer gayness of the event:

The dedication ceremony will be held at 13th and Locust Streets promptly at Noon. After a short program, the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus will sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" while confetti cannons shoot rainbow colors into the air. The program will be completed by 12:20 p.m.

You heard it right -- twenty delicious minutes of unbridled gayness, then back to work. The press release kind of reads like an Onion article, but it's apparently legit -- and for that we applaud the city of Philadelphia, which joins a short list of cities (San Francisco, Chicago, Montreal, and Toronto) to feature such signs. At least we're back in front of Canada!
