The head writer for Andy Samberg (and therefore the MTV Movie Awards) has taken to his blog to confirm that yes, the "collision" between Eminem and Sacha Baron Cohen's freshly-waxed taint was, indeed, entirely staged.
Some people thought that Eminem's reaction of horror was simply too legitimate to be faked, which begs the question: Was 8 Mile more than a fluke, and could this guy actually have some legitimate acting talent?
The guy has banked on his tough-guy image, but remember that he has also credited Sir Elton John with getting him off painkillers and is a notorious prankster. Would it be wrong to take his macho display at face value?

Staged or not
i went with....
i went with the "The gag may have been staged, but the disgust in his reaction wasn't"
Staged. But why waste the
Staged. But why waste the screen time with anger and not have some other person (actor or artist) (stage) make out with Bruno. Not that that would have been controversial by "our" standards but clearly would have given much more street credit to MTV and that would be something "new" instead of angry gay gag.
Oh well...who even cares about MTV anymore.
can go either way
Eminem has many homophobic lyrics (like many rappers) and a disgustingly derogatory gay character in his songs called Ken Kaniff
However, he did sing with Elton John once and I remember this part in 8 mile where he defends an openly gay guy when another guy calls him a faggot...
so, I don't know. He's probably homophobic but trying to appear liberated...
Obvious, IMO
This whole "staged" thing seemed SO obvious from the start. Cohan "accidentally" bumps some stuff and falls directly over Eminem who is sitting in the cheap seats midway up the eisle? Both have albums and or movies they want people to talk about...
Fake!
As for Em's response, I hope it was in character. He's made some progress over the years to appease the gays.
My question is, why is Em singled out when there are 100 other rappers who dont get called out for their homophobic lyrics? I know he is more popular than most, but I doubt he is the worst offender out there.
