Queerview television guide for April 18th

Have you ever wondered why Wednesday is pronounced "When's Day" instead of "Wed-ness-day"? No? Well, never mind, then. Here's some gay stuff on TV.

Thank God You're Here (NBC) 8:00PM EDT
If anyone is living proof that coming out of the closet can be the best thing that an actor can do to rejuvenate his career, it's Star Trek's George Takei. Since coming out of the closet Takei has scored a guest stint on smash hit Heroes, a regular gig on Howard Stern, and now a guest spot on the new improv show that drops an actor into a scene at the line "Thank God you're here!" with no script. If Takei is even half as funny as he was on the William Shatner Roast, this will be comedy gold.

Shear Genius (Bravo) 10:00PM EDT
I hate to say it, but the new follicle-focused reality competition is oddly entertaining -- due in part to the fact that half of the shear-wielders are certifiably insane and the others don't appear bright enough to have advanced past safety scissors. The whole production's as gay as a goose, from the contestants (even the straight ones) to the host (that's right, Angel!) to the guests, and drama is pretty much a guarantee. As are some spectacularly bad haircuts.

Head Case (Starz) 11:00PM EDT
This new 12-minute therapist sitcom stars Alexandra Wentworth as a self-obsessed shrink who mistreats her celebrity clients. In this episode she has former teen heartthrob Jason Priestley get in touch with his feminine side by dressing in drag (Priestley notably also played an object of gay affection in Love and Death on Long Island and had a torrid affair with both Charles Busch -- who was playing a woman at the time -- and his son in Die Mommy Die!).
