Queerview television guide for the weekend of April 27th

It's a lovely morning here in NYC (not) and nothing sounds better than curling up on the couch with a nice hot cup of gay television. Here's our list of picks for the weekend...

Friday

The Making of Going to a Town (Logo) 8:00PM EDT
If you're a Rufus Wainwright fan, don't miss this 30-minute behind-the-scenes "making of" special about "Going to a Town", the first video from his new album, Release the Stars. We sat in on some of the interviews for the program and he's got some interesting things to say -- and the special is followed by the world premiere of the video.

20/20 (ABC) 10:00PM EDT
Barbara Walters delivers an in-depth (and reportedly very sympathetic) report on gender identity in children, focusing on young transsexuals. Barbara speaks to parents of children with Gender Identity Disorder who are allowing their children to live as the gender with which they identify, and to the children themselves. This lady continues to rock my world.

The Henry Rollins Show (IFC) 11:00PM EDT
The last time I recommended tuning in to see Henry, flocks of Rollins aficionados came out of hiding to confess their love to this outspoken (and very gay-supporting) bad boy of rock. Tonight there's even more reason to tune in, as gay writer/director/actor/artist/mustache cultivator John Waters appears to chat. The Mars Volta also makes their TV debut with an unprecedented 13-minute performance of "Day of the Baphomets".

Saturday

Freddie Mercury: Magic Remixed (Logo) 9:00PM EDT
An in-depth look at perhaps the greatest rock-and-roll frontman of all time, Queen's Freddie Mercury. This new doc features unprecedented access into the late singer's life (including home video footage) and interviews with Mercury's contemporaries and followers, including Elton John, Robbie Williams, Boy George, and more.

Sunday

The Amazing Race (CBS) 8:00PM EDT
Still there by the skin of their teeth, gay pals Danny and Oswald remain in the running. Unless they rally, this could be their last week.

Brothers & Sisters (ABC) 10:00PM EDT
Tonight's new episode is called "Bad News" for a reason -- as Sarah and Joe deal with the fallout of Rebecca's accusation, there's another tragedy at hand that has Kitty and Robert in a state.
