Rachel Maddow on Prop 8, Day of Decision, Meet in the Middle, and FresnoEver-dependable spunky lesbian Rachel Maddow discussed yesterday's quizzical California court decision to uphold the gay marriage ban while letting 18,000 couples slip past the doorman without IDs with her characteristic wit and charm. Maddow also gave a nice shout-out to the various rallies and demonstrations that took place across the country in the wake of the decision, as well as a plug for the upcoming Meet in the Middle rally in Fresno, CA that is set to re-ignite the movement to get gay marriage legalized once more. Personally, I'm excited to see Fresno on the map for something other than the utterly bizarre satire soap opera from the '80s that involved Carol Burnett, Charles Grodin and a hell of a lot of raisins. (If you don't know what the hell that's all about, do yourself the favor of checking out the clip below...) Submitted by on Wed, 2009-05-27 08:52. |

FRESNO
But I LOVED the satire soap with Carol Burnett and Charles Grodin. It was hilarious! Is this where I sign the petition to get it on DVD?
Oh, wait.
Did I miss the point of the article?
And Gregrory Harrison as the "Shirtless Stranger"
Meanwhile, my two cents on yesterday's disaster

Stationwagon scene
The scene with Carol Burnett as the raisin empire matriarch in the back of the stationwagon was classic!
Being one of the two youngest in my family, I always had to ride in the back staring at the driver behind us. What a flashback!
"I was too busy raisin' Cane!"
HA! I loved Fresno! I was, like, 5 when it aired, but it obviously left an indelible impression. ;Þ
As for Prop H8, I read somewhere that an estimated 30% of gay Californians that were eligable to vote weren't even registered during the last general election. The initiative passed with a margin of about 4%, so those unregistered voters could have made all the difference.
How about, when the repeal initiative comes to ballot in a year or two, those who couldn't be bothered last time around get off your lazy asses and go vote, Slow-Mo's! It sort of undercuts our credibility to hurl righteous indignation at the anti-gay bigots when we can't even be bothered to help ourselves, now doesn't it?
