Raiders of the Lost arcHere's a riddle for you: When's a gay character NOT a gay character? Answer: When he's been dead for a year!
So this is the "gay character" that the folks behind the show were going on about in their podcast? PTTHHHHH!! That's pathetic. Bringing back a dead guy for 5 minutes just to make a vague reference to his sexuality doesn't constitute a gay character or gay storyline or anything -- it's just strange. And wait, wasn't he sleeping with his sister, anyway? Before they both died, I mean? For crying out loud -- next thing you know the show will have a flashback featuring Eleanor Roosevelt. Can someone who knows what's going on explain this? In the meantime, here's some racy footage of Somerhalder in Rules of Attraction, including his make-out scene with James Van Der Beek from Dawson's Creek. It's in French, which makes it even naughtier! Submitted by on Thu, 2007-03-29 14:20. |

Last night it was revealed on Lost that long-dead character Boone (Ian Somerhalder) was a homosexual. Or, at least, he was in airports -- because the only reference made to his sexuality was when his beeotch of a sister, Shannon (Maggie Grace) snapped at him for "hitting on random guys" while waiting for their ill-fated flight. And really, it just came across as a snippy sibling trying to get a rise out of her brother. Somerhalder (who is not gay) played full-on gay in the naughty-college-kid romp Rules of Attraction.
Looks like I beat you to it Brian... :P

Now it has to be the best episode for a LONG time, really clever and gripping.
But the only close to gay reference (unless in totally blind or something) was
"Boone asks Paulo if he can take a seat from their table but Shannon walks off continuing to yell at Boone and we can clearly hear Shannon saying that Boone should stop flirting with random guys." (from wikipedia)
Now as much a i would LOVE Boone to be gay he is DEAD! and even though that hasn't stopped people in the past it does seem very much like a throw away line, cause it was not like he was ACTUALLY flirting, just being polite!
Oh and did i forget to mention he was in love with his step sister!
If this is the best LOST writers can do I'm really annoyed. "Ooo we need a gay character - well this one is dead, how about him?"

In other thoughts
Ian Somerhalder <3 hehe

also another bug? Initially when I posted (on the new site design) the line breaks would not be kept, then it was fixed and now you can select input format - however its the wrong way round, if you select html its does rich text and visa versa (i could be wrong but im pretty sure)

Interesting they picked Ian
"Somerhalder was called a Gay Hater, by Gaywired Magazine and LOGO TVs News Site — 365Gay for having stated that after kissing a man in the movie The Rules of Attraction, he did not want to play other gay roles. Somerhalder hit back at the reports stating that some of his best friends were gay and that he only referred to the kissing scene in a negative way because the press had blown the whole thing out of proportion and he couldn't give an interview anymore without being asked about it."

If any of you guys have Rules of Attraction on DVD you gotta listen to his commentary, what a creep. Hot, but a creep.

He is not gay....
Boone's not gay--sorry
Oh, that's kinda cool! Ever
Oh, that's kinda cool! Ever since the show started i've had a little dream scenario in every episode that me and Boone were lovers! Very interesting...I hope it's true, if it is God must be answering my prayers lol.
Brian I don't want to be
Brian I don't want to be nitpicking but the video is not in french. I'm a french canadian so I would know ;)
In my comment in the Grading the networks article I said that Lost was not a positive(not neutral either) gay influence show. This week proved me that I was right. The producers hyped the gay character for this week episode. What we got was some kind of insult from a sister to her brother because it sounded that way. Boone is hardly gay. Maybe bisexual IF (and that is a big if) Shannon was telling the truth(doubt it). I was not expecting a gay wedding on this week episode but THAT wasn't a revelation of a gay character. Seeing how they handled this week episode, I'm not expecting something good when a real gay character will be on LOST.
French, Smench
Erg...
The producers didn't make a
The producers didn't make a big deal about a gay character. In fact, they weren't even being serious about it, and literally said not to hold your breath for a gay character and not to look for one because no one would say, "Hey, I'm gay." Somehow, people who either can't comprehend things in a non-literal manner or are looking to start some trouble said that the producers said they were introducing a gay character without mentioning the context of them not being serious or the accompanying disclaimers. Then others just repeated this false assertion.
No one was meant to be revealed as gay, and Boone specifically wasn't meant to be revealed as gay (especially since Shannon has made a gay-innuendo-as-insult comment before in 1.12 when she asked if Locke was Boone's new boyfriend). I mean, you can still speculate, but the episode didn't confirm anything about anyone's sexuality.
Lost
Shannon made a comment like that in season one too... I think she was just being a bitch though because there's been nothing else to indicate him being bi. I think it's pretty dumb if they said that was going to be a big gay revelation.
However, I'm sure that some scenes were cut from this weeks episode. I was looking at the production stills, and there are pictures of Claire, Nikki and Paolo together, but that scene was never aired - Claire was only in the episode for like 3 seconds and didn't even have any lines. Maybe they cut the gay revelation scene too?
Maybe...but
French??
