Remembering Brad Renfro, dead at 25

Boy is this sad: 25-year-old actor Brad Renfro, who had a rap sheet almost as long as his resume, died of undetermined causes yesterday after being found unresponsive after a night out with friends. Renfro had been battling drugs for years and was famously arrested for stealing a yacht in 2000 and a DIU as recently as 2006. When he died Renfro had wrapped filming on the adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' The Informers, starring Winona Ryder and Mickey Rourke.

His first film was the Joel Schumacher-directed The Client, which he landed at age 12. After playing Huckleberry Finn and starring in The Cure, which told the story of a boy living with HIV, Renfro broke out in gay director Bryan Singer's dark adaptation of Stephen King's Apt Pupil, co-starring Ian McKellen.

Renfro later appeared in Larry Clark's disturbing docudrama Bully (in which Renfro performed in some disturbingly graphic sex scenes for an 18-year-old), Ghost World, and The Jacket.

Though obviously troubled, Renfro was a talented young actor, and his death is a true young Hollywood tragedy. More pics of Renfro appear after the jump.
