I think you guys were a tad hard on "Glee"
It takes more than one episode for a show to jell. "caring" for characters requires time. It took me several episodes to get into Gossip Girl -- with which I am now Totally Obsessed. When Glee returns in the Fall we'll see.
In some ways it reminded me of Camp. Does anyone remember that one?
I agree that single-camera
I agree that single-camera is the way to go. Not just 30 Rock and the Office... remember Arrested Development? My Name Is Earl was single-camera, too. I'm sure there are others. Just please, no more laugh tracks... I just can't watch shows with laugh tracks anymore.
I think Glee is right as an hour-long, although I do agree a closer focus on the high-school kids will be better (although I think we'll see them not concentrate so much on everyone in each episode but instead they will sometimes give us smaller groups of characters or mainly one character so that we do get a chance to know them better). I also like it as more of a drama with camp and comedic elements, rather than a straightforward sit-com-style comedy.
