Steve and Brian, Sarah Silverman's not-gay pals, talk playing a couple

Comedy Central just posted an interesting interview with Brian Posehn and Steve Agee about their roles as the most unconventional gay television couple since Bert and Ernie (oh, come on...). If you've read interviews with them before there's nothing earth-shattering, but it's still a pretty fun listen.

I like how they note that their TV characters are exactly the same as their real selves except for the gay part; it's nice to see that the show hasn't treated their sexuality as something that would come with a list of requirements. Agee even jokes that the fact that their characters are gay is such a non-issue that the only reason he can think of that the writers would have made them gay would have been as a prank on him and Posehn. I would think that the characters are too integral to the show to have been a mere prank, but even if that is how they got gay, the guys and their many fans are having the last laugh.

The most interesting part of the discussion is Agee's explanation of his various jobs in reality television, including as a transcriber for The Osbornes. And you thought your job sucked.
