That's ANTertainment! Episode 3: Gays in the locker room!
In the latest edition of AfterElton.com's brand-spankin' new "That's ANTertainment!" video blog, gay comedian/personality/athletic supporter ANT tackles the subject of gays in sports. What is it that's so terrifying about the concept of out gay athletes? And do straight sportsters really think that if gay men and women aren't talking about their sexuality openly, that it means that they aren't already in their locker rooms and on their teams, and that they haven't been since the beginning of organized athletics? ANT also takes a spin around Internet dating sites and fondly remembers the days when "BB" meant "Before Brunch"... Enjoy! For more from ANT, head on over to his ANT Colony blog! Gays in sports
Hey ANT!
Not sure why gays in locker rooms is so bothersome to many heteros. I know guys who are bothered by being in the same TOWN as gays. I just don't get it.
And. Have you watched a boy's wrestling meet? If those boys can grab and grope where they do in an arena full of people, friends, family..... I don't get how they would have an issue with anyone's sexuality one way or the other. There was a big deal in the local area last year. A senior wrestler was "inniciating" freshmen on the team by penetrating them with his finger. But I am sure he had a girl for a prom date. Silly boys. :o)
Don't get me started about kicking good people out of the military for being gay. Ugh.
Hahahhaha!
"These glasses are Gucci!" SOOO FUNNY!
A lot of straight guys I know think they are the cat's meow. Maybe they are just so sure they are so fine that all the gay guys are going to want their bodies. I'm guessing.
I do know that one of my best school friends was gay. She showered with me everyday after gym. Never thought anything of it, still don't. Maybe it's a guy thing, ANT?
I'm so glad you have this additional outlet to share your humor with us. I love you bunches!!!

And certanly couldn't look at the friend the same way for a while...since all I saw of him on his profile was his pp...yikes:)
LONG LIVE THE ANT COLONY
Squirrel Pie
MJ- It's because they don't
MJ- It's because they don't want gay guys to see them in the locker room naked! Light bulb?? :)
I like these, they are like your stand up but more relaxed like we are used to seeing you.
And about talking about sports, what about figure skating? Even the strait guys doing that look gay to me. With the dancing and the twirling. And they have been on the wheaties box!! I always have to argue with you don't I ANT? lol! And what about the professional swimmers? I think only gay guys would consent to shaving their entire body. See you around the Colony ANT!

RE: Gays in the locker room
Your sexuality is just that, yours. It shouldn't matter, but as long as you have people out there who are bothered by their own sexuality insecurities it will be an issue. It's such a shame that in this day and age people are still so ignorant. You rule ANT!!!
Lol...lol....LOL!!
I also loved the story of your B.B. experience. Gucci glasses. Gotta love it.
Three Components of Discrimination
Do you read the comments? I hope you don't just post videos and ignore the responses.
The three reasons why some are against having gay men in the locker room is male domination, straight supremacy, and straight sexual arousal.
Since the beginning of civilization men have dominated government and social life including sports. Women were considered inferior and were forced to care take or do menial jobs that did not challenge male domination in society.
There has been no society in history that has considered gay people equal. Straight people, in particular straight males, have controlled government and social life since the beginning of human civilization. With that control they decide what is right or wrong, good or bad, appropriate or inappropriate etc. These are the three components of straight supremacy I’ve noticed in relation to gay people:
Sex is what makes the world go round. Recent studies into sexuality shows what arouses people. For straight males the site of straight and lesbian porn aroused them. Straight females were aroused by straight, gay male and lesbian porn.
Let’s put all three reasons together and see how it applies to gay people in the locker room. Male domination- Sports are considered manly/ masculine. Since lesbians are considered (by society) inverts then being in the masculine world of sports is expected and one of the reasons why they have an easier time coming out than gay men. Gay men who are also considered inverts (effeminate) are not as well accepted because straight men consider it a challenge to male (masculine) domination. Straight supremacy – Straight supremacists do not want gay people to participate in anything straight people are. Straight sexual arousal – Straight males are not turned on by gay male porn and in turn feel uncomfortable around gay men in an intimate setting because the possible infatuation is one way. This possible situation places the straight male in the same position that they treat straight women as the “prey” which goes back to male domination. Straight females who are turned on by any porn don’t implicitly mind being around lesbians in an intimate setting. All three components are interwoven; one can nullify the other two. For example a feminist straight woman can challenge male domination and have no implicit negative reaction toward gay people but feel that because she is straight she is better than gay people or that gay people are a threat and therefore act negatively toward gay people.
Locker room
I loved the Gucci glasses thing. You had some really funny stuff in here. Still, the message comes through loud and clear. People are fearful of what they are ignorant of. There are so many stereotypes out there and many are not true. One of my friends is a policeofficer and another one is an over the road trucker. Most people would not think that a guy male would be in those professions. That just shows the ignorance that many have. For another thing, just because a gay person is in the same locker room as a straight person doesn't mean that the gay person is thinking "I wanna jump your bones"...don't flatter yourself dude. Chances are, the straight person is looking around more than the gay person. Paranoia can be a funny thing to watch...sad at times too. Anyway, off my soapbox...
Oh yeah....I like Fruit Loops way better than Wheaties anyday.

locker room
How about the whole Tim Hardaway controversy.... he is only one person but I believe he said something about how he felt all the other players were always going to be worried about the one GAY in the locker room?? HUH?? How many times have you heard of raping and pillaging happening in sports locker rooms these days?? Plus don't ALL men glance at or check out other mens...uh attributes... just out of curiosity or????? ( I've heard! LOL ) Plus don't you think there are ALREADY many gays in locker rooms? And do we know for sure that a gay has not already been on a Wheaties box?
We have come a long way from BIllie Jean King days...but wonder why it still seems to be more acceptable for it to be gay women than gay men in sports...... and in locker rooms??
And OMG ANT....you are too funny.....the position you played..and the sunglasses...thanks for the laughs as well as a thought provoking blog.... xoxo
