To Make a Long Story Short ... Neil schools, O'Reilly continues to amaze, and more

  • Neil Patrick Harris to give a master class at the Broadway Theatre Project. He could really be giving a class on having the best gay year ever, the way he's been handling himself since coming out.
  • Bill O'Reilly: gays at baseball games, bad enough; gays at baseball games when hats are distributed to children, completely unacceptable! Is this guy effing serious?!
  • Yesterday we posted on the announced gay forum for Democratic Presidential candidates. Apparently Mike Gravel (who didn't meet the HRC's $100,000 funding requirement) is very upset that he wasn't invited, particularly given his outspoken support of gay issues. HRC says it's simply a matter of giving time to the candidates actually likely to make it to office (hence the funding requirement). Thoughts?
  • SyFyPortal released its final noms for its annual sci-fi awards, and George Takei (yay!) and Thomas Dekker (crickets) are both there for Heroes.
  • For you Xena fans: Renee O'Connor (Gabrielle) will play the lead in upcoming Sci Fi Channel original The Genesis Code, with Big Eden's Tim DeKay (pictured at top) as her hubby.

Double Standards

Watch tonight on The O'Reilly Factor as he ignores the Ms. New Jersey story or if he says anything he'll downplay her having guys bite her breasts in public.  He has two standards; one for straight people and one for everyone else.  Several months ago Richard Geer was in India raising awareness of AIDS along with an Indian actress.  During his speech to a crowd he grabbed the actress and kissed her.  It caused a stir in India that lead to some wanting criminal charges being filed.  Bill O'Reilly couldn't believe that it was a controversy at all let alone Indians wanting to charge him with anything.  Yet a few weeks ago he had a story about how a lesbian teen couple were harrassed and thrown off a bus for kissing in Seattle.  He said it was unacceptable for them to be kissing and sympathized with the bus driver that kick them off.  So you can see that for Bill O'Reilly it's acceptable for opposite sex people to kiss but is unacceptable when same sex people kiss.

I think HRC should open the debate up to all canidates that want to come.  Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Dodd, and now Kucinich have agreed to debate.  That makes 5 out of 8 canidates.  With Mike Gravel it would make six.  I don't know what Bill Richardson's and Joe Biden's plans are.  Bill Richardson is imbroiled in scandal right now involving an anti-gay slur he said on Imus in the Morning last year.  He has finally made a full apology after a year of half-hearted ones.  I'm glad Imus is off the air but he was able to illicit what people (especially straight men) really felt about things.  It was a locker room on television.  There won't be a Republican debate since none of the top canidates submitted a HRC questionaire back.  That says a lot.

*Snorts* Debate, yeah....

This is nothing more than a pat on the ass for being 'fiesty', after all, they like that in their women... I mean constituants. There are just so many things wrong with this entire 'debate' that I can't explain it without growling. The main deal is they are screwing themselves and us over by excluding people like Mike Gravel just because he doesn't have enough money. I'm afraid they might think these two groups represent the whole, which is a big mistake. It's a sad day when a group is reduced to lap dogs, then roll over and take it because it means they are finally being recognized by 'the big boys'.

Double Standards Part Deux

Like I predicted Bill O'Reilly downplayed Ms. New Jersey's photo scandal. He said the photos were "not shocking" and not much else. Geraldo Rivera was giving commentary on the situation. I agree the photos were not shocking but if they were of two women or two men in the exact situation his opinion would change. Several months ago he did a story about women kissing each other in public and forewarned the audience that they might be offended.  Tonight he did a story about a video of a woman singing about Hillary Clinton on Youtube.  He said some might be offended.

The reality is that his double standard is out of hate and control.  He doesn't like LGBT people and he wants to control our lives.
