To Make a Long Story Short ... putting the "gay" in "reggae", J.P. coaches ball, and more

  • A gay version of The Economist? Let's hope it's on pink paper! Wait -- that's the Financial Times...
  • Ask Gay Man's gay man nabs a development deal with NBC/Universal (the parent company of Bravo). We'll believe it when we see it -- remember when Ross the Intern had his own deal? And where is he now? That's right: being weighed on a giant scale on national television. (Ross, we love you. We really do. You were robbed.)
  • Here's some great news: homophobic reggae artist Beenie Man (and others) sign the Reggae Compassionate Act: a drive to "respect and uphold the rights of all individuals to live without violence due to their religion, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity or gender". Considering a few years ago his lyrics encouraged people to kill homosexuals, this is a step in the right direction -- go Peter Tatchell!
  • Out gay model and Survivor J.P. Calderon talks to Outsports about coming out and coaching ladies' volleyball. Not that there's any connection between the two.
  • High schools in Virginia and Sleepy Hollow have plays with gay content booted off campus by administrators. In both cases the kids performed their shows (one of which was The Laramie Project) uncensored off school grounds (Project was also staged, with the profanity removed, at the school). That's the spirit!
