Trailer Exclusive: First look at Adamo Ruggiero in "Make the Yuletide Gay"

Keith Jordan and Adamo Ruggiero Make the Yuletide Gay

We've got a pretty big Adamo Ruggiero cheering section here on the AfterElton.com mothership thanks to his amazing work as gay teen Marco on Degrassi: The Next Generation and his brave decision to come out as a gay man last year.

So when we heard that the comely Canadian would be starring in a gay-themed movie set at Christmastime we started decking the halls early, and are now thrilled to be offering the first look at the trailer for Make the Yuletide Gay, which stars Ruggiero, soaps vet Ian Buchanan (The Bold and the Beautiful), Derek Long (Socket), Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson!) and Gates McFadden (aka Star Trek: The Next Generation's Dr. Beverly Crusher).

Enjoy!

Um...

It is gay flicks like this which make me appreciate Milk and Brokeback Mountain.  It is well intentioned I guess, but jeez that is some bad acting.

Hmm.

I should offer free trailer making services to gay films, because honestly, most of them are pretty bad. Including this one.

As for the movie itself... I don't know. It could be cute, but it seems like a tired old coming out story dressed up in twinkle lights.

Can't be any worse than Christmas with the Kranks and Jingle All the Way, though, right? 8)

something for the kids

Hmm... I dunno. This has several ingredients for disaster: it's a suspenseless trailer for what looks like a typical coming out story AND it's yet another home-for-the-holidays Christmas movie.

Plus it's title is a cliche.

I feel like gays and straights are moving beyond this kind of movie. I guess I'm glad they're there, with contemporary actors, as examples for younger gays who haven't come out yet. And it does bring back memories for all of us who've been out for a while. And it has cute boys. These are good things. It's just sad to see one more cliche after another masquerading as something bold and brave.

I hope it's a successful film.

I guess if we want equality, we have to have our own painful Christmas movies.  I mean, how many heteros sat through Four Christmases this year?  That piece of crap grossed $120M.  We gotta take the good with the bad.  Besides, somebody took the time to make it.  That's progress, right?

Adam's adorable.  I might watch it on cable.

So to be equal- does that mean we have to go see it?

I am all for equality. But this seems extreme. Can't I just I say that I saw it?

Yeah...

that looks awful. But loving Adamo, I'll catch it on DVD. Can we talk about Ian Buchanan though? He's always pinged for me. Or is it a case of "He's not gay, he's British"? And the guy with the beard (the Dad?) would look hot if he shaved it. :)

I'd Pay 12 Bucks Just to See Adamo Hang Out Reading In A Hammock

My username "darcolover" is based on the portmanteau of Dylan and Marco from Degrassi TNG (Darco) and my love for the couple.

I think he's grown into a very good actor with a lot of range and many fabulous years of success ahead of him.

I'll definitely go see it to show my support.

His first big move. Good for him.

The Trailer Looks Lame But

It's got to better than that awful Vince Vaughn-Reese Witherspoon holiday movie last year.

yes, but

So, I agree it's not Milk or Brokeback. But then, most main stream fair is mediocre as well.  And I'm just guessing that most people commenting on here live in a major metropolitan area, and are out.  It's a little different for the closeted kid in Kansas who can't walk down Santa Monica or in the Castro holding his BF's hand. Not that this will ever play in Kansas. Oh well, maybe he can rent it...

Adamo

Adamo is currently acting in a play here in Toronto called Dog Sees God. It is based on the peanuts characters all grown up.

The names have changed but the premise is that Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang have all grown up to be dysfunctional people. One is meth head and drug addict, one is a sexually quetioning youth, I think Lucy is a prostitute.

It stars some of the cast of Degrassi TNG.

If anyone is in Toronto and wants to go see it it is playing at Six Degrees, 2335 Yonge Street. It runs from Fri. March 13 - April 4.

Adamo

Man, this film doesn't look all that great, but perhaps it's just due to an inferior trailer.  I do like Adamo quite a bit, but am sorry to see that he seems to be playing this part in a more stereotypical manner, than he did his gay character on Degrassi.  But what the heck, I'd go see the film, just to watch "Nellie Oleson" in action---haven't seen Alison act in anything since her Little House days!

I'm like a superhero, with no powers or motivation...

Maybe

Maybe this movie will suck, but Adamo is starring! I'll watch anything that has Adamo in it!

Ugh...

There's only one thing that makes me more upset than the holidays... HOLIDAY MOVIES!!!  As if there weren't enough good ideas to portray in a normal story, holiday movies are extremely limited to just a few happy, love everyone... for now themes.  Not to mention they did a horrible job with the first mom.  If they wanted someone like the mom from Another Gay Movie, they should've just asked that actress to do it.  It'll probably end up in my Netflix queue somehow...
