Trailer for Evening now online

One of the other (of the frustratingly few) films in our summer movie preview is Evening, the star-studded movie version of the acclaimed novel by Susan Minot. The film was on our RADAR because it was adapted for the screen by gay author Michael Cunningham (The Hours, Flesh and Blood), and having seen the film recently (and not wanting to give anything away), I can say that the movie has other gay-interest elements as well.

The film stars Claire Danes, Vanessa Redgrave, Toni Collette, Patrick Wilson, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, Natasha Richardson, Eileen Atkins, and the criminally adorable (and incredibly talented) Hugh Dancy, seen above.

The trailer for the film is now online -- check it out after the break.

Patrick Wilson AND Hugh Dancy ...

Plus Vanessa Redgrave, Toni Collette, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep and Natasha Richardson ... so there.  Thanks for the trailer.

Evening in June????

When I read the original summer movies story including Evening's release date, I figured the distributor was dropping it in summer because it hadn't worked out. Then your trailer posting blew me away... I thought it was like a law that grown-up films with this level of talent had to be released after October when the Academy's voters' long term memory deficits wouldn't be so challenged.

I'd go see Patrick Wilson read the collected jeremiads of Jerry Falwell if you promised he'd have his shirt off and he'd occasionally look up and smile. And after his work with Kate Winslet in Little Children, to see him playing off consumately talented women. Whoa, Nelly! I'll be the first in line when it opens in PDX.

really hopeful

that this movie is awesome. if a movie is really good i don't care if it's 8 hours long. keep me engaged. tell me a great story. i don't get to/go to movies much in the theaters (the last three movies i saw in the theater were MY SUMMER OF LOVE, CRASH, and VOLVER if that gives you any idea) because it's so expensive and often disappointing and especially given the uber-violent/torture fare offered (and blogged about by dorothy snarker on afterellen.com). but i'm a big dvd renter, seems less of a disappointment, plus the rental place near me is independently owned and very foreign, independent, and gay friendly. i would be willing to try to see this one in theaters.
