Ugly Betty's David Blue has a footlong with your name on it

The WGA strike has another casualty, people: faced with no screen time and dwindling episodes in which to celebrate his budding love with Marc St. James, Cliff from Ugly Betty (David Blue) has turned to working at a fast-food restaurant. See what happens when mom and dad fight? Adorably shlubby gay boyfriends get stuck selling value meals!

All kidding aside, it's great to see Blue (whom we interviewed a few months back and who is an absolutel darling) doing anything, anywhere, on our TV screens, be it a commercial for Subway, a QVC hand-modeling gig, or whatever. And hey, remember Amanda's Olive Garden commercial from a while back? Next thing you know Vanessa Williams will be doing ads for Sunny D!

Check out David's Subway ad after the jump!

Aren't commercials ALSO written by uh...WRITERS?

I can't imagine there will be many new commercials unless non-WGA writers are writing them... But then again, what do I know? ...lol

btw...I do love the Mark and Cliff storyline...hehehe

UPDATE: Mr. Blue made an appearance on Moonlight (1-11).

    I'd noticed this too

This reminded me of the Sean Hayes Doritos commercial that was on during the first season of Will & Grace. Since that one was about two guys in a laundrymat ogling some supermodel, there was an added note of dissonance.

I made the observation on LJ http://yonihamagid.livejournal.com/206634.html

    Sean Hayes's commercial career

He was in about 5 that were running at the same time, as I remember (including a beer ad that had him hiding in a rack of clothes, or something?). Skippy from SEX AND THE CITY is the current multitask king: he's in about 4 or 5 running now, including that one where he plays Ryan Seacrest's mouthwash assistant.

    I remember that one

I'm not sure if it was miller or bud light, but the idea behind it was a man accompanying a wife/girlfriend is beckoned into a circular rack of clothes in which is a television, chairs and the inevitable cooler of beer.
