Exclusive video from the GLAAD Media Awards red carpet
Our sister site AfterEllen dispatched vlogger Alexi Melvin to chat up celebs on the red carpet of Saturday's GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, and she was kind enough to nab a couple of the celebrity fellas for us over here on the boys' side. Check out her chats with Alan Cumming, Bishop Gene Robinson, Bebe Zahara Benet, Peter Paige, Wilson Cruz, Trevor Wright, Christian Vincent (not Darryl Stephens, as noted!), Milk producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen, and more! Christian is beyond sexy!!
Christian is beyond sexy!! I can't believe they mixed him up with Darryl! Oh the humanity!! I have always thought Christian was hotter than Darryl. Here's hoping they both place in the Hot 100!!
Kitty
I'm glad to get a sneak peek at the GLAAD awards
I can't lie because I'm a tad bit jealous because I would have loved to been there. It looked like all the people in the industry, that I love to read about, watch and have admired for years and they were all in one place, at the same time. I was especially excited to see Mr. Alan Cummings because he is someone that has always stay true to himself and true to the LGBT community. He was talking about the true diva and living legend Ms. Pam Grier (L word) and seeing how he truly loves the original 'Foxy Brown', I was even more in love with Scotland's finest. I have loved Pam Grier since I been born and just watching her on the L word, always gave me goosebumps.
I was happy to see and hear from Wilson Cruz, who has been revelant and just this bright light in the industry for so many years. He is in that school of NPH and Claire Danes and I just remember how brave I always thought he was for playing the roles that he did, especially on 'My So-Called Life'. Wilson just continues to make me more prouder day by day, to be a gay man and of color. The always-funny Jason Stewart and newly crowned Drag superstar 'BeBe' hanging out on the carpet was a real cute moment.
I'm just waiting patiently for my time to come, when I will be at the GLAAD awards, mingling and partying with the many beautiful and talented people that are daily risking everything, so LGBT people like myself are represented accurately and correctly in the media.
Trevor Wright and Christian Vincent were looking quite yummy but it seems that everyone on the carpet was dressing to the Nines, from Jacobs to Prada and beyond.
It was a great segment and the host gets major Kudos for not being too aggressive but getting people to open up.
Sorry I forgot the Bishop
Gene Robinson who is just an amazing spirit/soul and has touched a nation with his kindness and sensibility, that even during many trials and tribulations, he has come out the true winner. His comments about getting together and doing some partying were so true because many might not remember when going to a gay bar or going out was a bit of a hazard. You truly risked your own life going out, something that many of us take for granite on a daily basis. It seems when we are in the club profiling and styling we never thought that there was a time in our nation's history that it was completely illegal to do so. It's so important that in the year 2009, that we paid some homage to many people that truly put everything aside and fought in our on-going fight for equality, truth and justice.
I love the nightlife and I always got to boogie but it's smart to look back on many of our peers that weren't fighting so we can all still get down and boogie to the wee hours of the morning and turn around and do it again.
hey guys! just wanted to say
