Watch Peter Paige in "Say Uncle" (and lots more) for free on the Logo Films site

A while back our benevolent mothership, Logo, introduced a new online feature that's pretty darn cool, if you ask us: you can watch a host of gay movies in their entirety for free on the Logo Films site at LOGOonline.com.

The site has made a few dozen flicks available online, including thriller In the Blood, sexy Argentinian drama Burnt Money, indie rom-com Coffee Date and tons more. And today a new movie from a gay fan fave has been added to the offerings as a part of the Fall Film Festival.

After the break, check out the first part of the dark comedy Say Uncle (written by, directed by and starring Queer As Folk's Peter Paige) and after that head on over to the Logo Films site for more.

Glad they're doing this cause --

Say Uncle is a grievously underrated film. Paige tackles straight fear of gays-and-children head-on thorugh the character of a decidedly child-like guy who loves to play with kids. No hidden agenda, no sexual wierdness -- he just loves to play with them. This incites the suspicion of the neighborhood busybody played to terrifying perfection by Kathy Najimy. Naturally our hero has problems, whose cause we learn. And his obsession with child play makes him oblivious to the fact that the guy in the next cubicle at work is madly in love with him.

Altogehter touching and weird. Not to every taste, but give it a try.

Say Uncle

I give Peter Paige props for tackling this subject matter, but "Say Uncle" left me feeling uncomfortable and confused. I thought Page did a nice job (as a writer and an actor) in creating an interesting character, but parts of his motivations needed to be explored more thoroughly. In this era of highly-publicized child kidnappings and Amber Alerts, it's tough to root for an adult male who sees nothing wrong with befriending random children on playgrounds and in toy stores. I found it impossible to understand his Michael Jackson-like obtuseness regarding the parental concerns of the mothers and fathers in the film - and I got the feeling that the audience was supposed to feel that the parents were in the wrong to question the motives of a stranger trying to befriend their children.  It's sad that parents need to be that protective, but that is the reality of this world these days. I didn't feel that Page's character motivations were clear enough to sway the audience to his side.

Lee Williams and Marc Warren--the Elevator Kiss

"The mountain has wings."

LOGO is also offering "No Night is Too Long," a hard-to-fine film from the UK with Marc Warren and Lee Williams that features one of the greatest kisses ever filmed.  The movie itself is a bit depressing, in true Ruth Rendell fashion, but it's riveting nonetheless.  Lee Williams was never lovelier.

Issues.

Am I the only one who's getting a message that almost every single video on LogoOnline.com is under copyright restrictions from being played outside the US? I could watch all of the videos about a week-and-a-half ago, so why not now? I am thoroughly annoyed. I was up to Part 3 of In The Blood.

Annoying.
