WCBSTV's virtual Pride parade

Yesterday we stumbled across one of the most impressive Pride features ever: WCBSTV's "Openly Gay Celebrities" slideshow. Now, local news sites run this sort of slideshow all the time, and I've seen "gay celeb" themed features before. But this slideshow boasts an impressive 83 gay celebs, spanning from Chad Allen to B.D. Wong (and kicked off by recently-out David Hyde Pierce, appropriately enough). The feature also boasts links to a 84-slide feature called "When it Was Out fo be Out", which focuses on gay celebs who were not out during their lifetime or did not live to see a time when being out was more accepted (which is obviously a work in progress!).

I encourage you to spend some time browsing the features -- they're exceedingly well-done (even noting the exact points when many of the celebs came out) and the suggestion that it's no longer "out" to be "out" is incredibly encouraging. And all this on a local news website! Granted, that "local" is New York City, but still, it's not a gay site by any means and this is quite an impressive feature.
