Who's the gay on NBC's "Kings"?
Michael Ausiello, himself bona fide royalty when it comes to gay television spoilers, is reporting that NBC's mid-season drama Kings will feature a gay character in the central cast ... although given that the fact is revealed in a particularly interesting way, he's reluctant to reveal who it is. He will say that actor Michael Arden (The Return of Jezebel James) has been cast as the character's love interest, and invites readers to speculate as to which fella might be the stealth gay. So what do you think? Pics of the leads after the jump... Ian McShane Chris Egan Sebastian Stan Above are three of the main fellas from the sprawling family drama. McShane is of course best know from Deadwood, while Sebastian Stan is best known from the teen witch movie The Covenant. Chris Egan was in flying dragon movie Eragon. Any guesses? Good question
Considering the fact that it appears that Egan and Stan are taking the place of David and Jonathan in this modern retelling of the story of King David, I would have initially thought it was the two of them. Introducing a third individual, I'm not sure how that's going to play out.
My first guess would be that it's not going to be Egan, as he's the main character. I'm pretty sure we'd get more buzz on the gay angle if King David were going to be played gay.
So that means it's probably going to be Stan, which might lead to the "twist" Ausieollo is reporting. If the Jonathan character is lusting after the David character and winds up in the arms of Arden in despair, that might qualify.
His character blurb on the show's official website seems to agree, "Sebastian Stan stars in the new NBC drama "Kings" as Jack Benjamin, the handsomely arrogant son of King Silas, who was raised in the lap of luxury and spirals down a destructive path in search of himself."
Of course, the biggest twist could be the intergenerational relationship between McShane, playing the Saul analog, and the obviously young enough to be his son Arden.
Interestingly, Stan's character of Jack is the only character that actually has a blurb on the website.
Sounds good to me!
Do you have a link to the official website? Are these the only 3 male leads on the show? Although IMDb isn't the most reliable source, several other men are listed in the cast.

Here you go

There are two additional leads, but they are women so not entirely germane to the conversation. My bet is that Egan is going to be involved with Allison Miller who is playing Stan's sister/McShane's daughter, and Stan will be involved with Arden.
It will be interesting to see how political and how romantic the relationship will be between McShane and his queen played by Sussanah Thompson

Looks like all the main characters have 1-2 paragraph blurbs now, as well as the actors' bios.

It's.....SPOILER ALERT
Thanks for the Spoiler
The author went out of his way to conceal this fact, to allow us to experience the drama as it happened.
PLEASE don't post spoilers without some kind of disclaimer.
Please do remember any post with Spoilers needs
Sorry!
What a choice
I would sleep with any of them so my vote has to be canceled out. But if I was to chose I would say the fact that Sussanah Thompson in standing reolutely behind an obviously upset Sebastian Stan in the attached photo indicates he is the one. But, I would hope that she is not an evil Mom in the vein of Angela Lansbury in MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE. I also hope it isn't a stereotypical case of the gay boy being a Momma's boy.
The idea of it being Ian McShane, while fascinating, is highly unlikely based on the past performance of network executives and censors. They are rarely comfortable with expressions of intimacy. I will admit tht ABC has stepped up to the plate in the case of DIRTY, SEXY, MONEY in allowing William Baldwin and Candis Cayne a lot of intimacy and doing the same with Kevin and Scotty on BROTHERS & SISTERS.
You know I will be watching.

Well, I'm happy for
Well, I'm happy for Sebastian Stan, and Chris Egan. Too great and up-and-coming young actors. Loved Sebastian in The Covenant and many other smaller roles he's done. Chris Egan is cute as a button.
Btw, Michael Arden is great. And boy, this guy has a great voice. I've been watching youtube clips of his singing. Wonderful.... :) And he's not bad looking to boot too. :) Okay, hs'e very cute...so sue me...
