The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency Season 3 Finale Recap: Miami Beach Bored

The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency has been many things over the past three seasons but boring has never been one of them - until last week's coma-inducing first half of the two part Season 3 Finale.

Somehow they took a recipe that worked wonders for them all season (one part diva mixed with two parts male nudity topped with a whole handful of crazy), threw it out the window (possibly with the remainder of Janice's tummy tuck) and decided to take a new and somewhat more serious approach to the campiest reality show on television. I was bored to tears at watching the models head to Miami as Janice tries to branch out into other markets. Even watching Traci try to sabotage CC was unsatisfying and trust me, I love me some conniving bitchery so I should have been over the moon but something was missing. I'm guessing nudity but what do I know.

Nevertheless, I'm a JDMA lover and long time devotee so I went into Part 2 with an open mind and a belly full of Thin Mints (you can barely taste the Girl Scouts in them) hoping that the show would be back on track. Sadly I have to report that the JDMA Crazy Train remains derailed.

Gone are the days of J.P.'s struggle to come out or his canoodling with Rodrigo at the amusement park and savoring the sensation of a foot long in their mouths. Long lingering shots of peach fuzzy butts and treasure trails are almost a distant fading memory at this point. I miss the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency that always guaranteed a heavy dose of homo(erotic) activity and gay goodness to lull me to sleep on a Tuesday night.

The episode starts where it ended last week - with the models finding out they'll be participating in a late night Ed Hardy panty raid lingerie/underwear fashion show. Sounds promising, no?

Luckily, the Ed Hardy show delivered the goods and within seconds J.P., Christian, Danny Nunez, Chris Jones, Billy Marquart and the rest of the models are stripped, rubbed down, and oiled up. It's a late night buffet of bare butts as they cram themselves into the smallest underwear on the planet and hit the runway for what looks like a really fun show.

While Kehoe gets a lot of the attention for his questionable sexuality and antics on the show, the real star of the JDMA Season 3 Finale has to be J.P. Calderon. Not only was he first out during the Ed Hardy show, he booked a job the next morning with international client Custo Barcelona and rocked every photo of the shoot. In each of his one on one interviews he brings warmth, heart and a sense of center to the show that gives JDMA a small amount of depth without turning the show into something it's not or worse, a Dr. Phil special.

Which is sadly what the finale boiled down to at times. Janice worried about pixie Alexis' scabs and her continued cutting. Chris Jones went from crying over Crystal to hooking up with Alexis in the matter of days. There was plenty of model in-fighting and then there's the power struggle between Janice and her business partner Peter Hamm that's been boiling to an ugly head all season.

Somewhere along the line, someone forgot to tell Janice that while her audience loves the drama she brings week after week, the possible deterioration of her business does not make for good reality television viewing. I've never really believed that all the chaos and tension between Janice and Peter was 100% real and having it forced down our throats all season didn't help make me care about it... at all.

So when Janice finally sat down (in the last two minutes of the season) to tell Peter she wants to dissolve their business partnership I was shocked! Not at the obvious reveal but that the show actually ended on this note. If I was watching someone's life work go down the tubes like The Restaurant with fine ass Rocco DiSpirito this would be a fascinating finale but this is The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency! A more fitting finale would be her entering a mental facility or a naked pillow fight between all the male models.

Until Season 4 makes its way on air be sure to tune in to Make Me a Supermodel every Thursday and check out our liveblog because that show is skintastic and getting gayer every week.
