"24" gets gay-inclusive, but where is it heading?

Last night's episode of the FOX series 24 offered up a minor gay reveal towards the end of the show. Viewers were treated to a brief scene of shady political operative (and possibly hired killer) Martin being woken by a late-night phone call from the President's daughter. She wants to place a hit on one of the President's enemies, and Martin is only too willing to talk shop.

I've only been following 24 sporadically this season, so I'm not sure whether we've seen this Martin character before. Anybody have more information on the character and the very familiar looking actor who plays him?

At any rate, 24 went out of its way last night to show that this baddie likes to share his bed with another man. The question is why?

It's possible we'll never see Martin's sleeping male partner again, and that might just be a good thing. Something about this scene reminded me of an episode last season of Weeds, where we discover the contemptible DEA agent Till is gay in a similar, seemingly throwaway scene showing him in bed with another man. A few Weeds episodes later, Agent Till's male partner is brutally tortured and killed.

Anybody wanna place odds on whether we see Martin's lover again on 24 and if so, what will happen to him?
