To Make a Long Story Short.... Leo Lerman revisted, Dempsey having fun on set, and more!

  • Queerty takes an in depth look at legendary Condé Nast editor, Leo Lerman:

"From modest beginnings, gay, Jewish and “no beauty,” as Lerman’s former assistant Stephen Pascal described his late boss’ looks, Lerman rose to the highest echelons of New York society. He wined, dined, danced and - most importantly - laughed with the likes of Marlene Dietrich, Truman Capote, Andy Warhol, a few Rockefellers and some Kennedys." (Queerty)

  • Wachowski fuss continues. We commented Tuesday. FOX piece says claims of a sex change are a hoax. And yet still no word from the man himself? Very curious.
  • Patrick Dempsey hails “lighter” atmosphere on Grey’s set these days.
  • Fascinating long blind item on "Timmy" a 1940's bit actor who masqueraded as a woman and ended up winning an Actress Oscar. This post from Crazy Days and Nights could be a total hoax, but if so, it's a clever one. You'll find yourself hooked trying to figure out who the actor/actress was.
  • Portfolio calls out Page Six for coining the term "toe-tapper" as a slang for gay men. And we're not just talking about in that "I got rhythm" kind of way.

This is just so much crap

This story is so much crap.  I might believe that A.C. Lyles might be the narrator of the story about "Timmy"  He knew Mae West quite well and for years it was rumored that when she died it would be discovered she was really a man.  In 1970 there was a film called DINAH EAST based on that theory about a struggling young actor who can't get a job as a male until dresses as a woman. She becomes a big star who adopts a son to perpetuate the myth.  Another real Hollywood story revolves a movie extra, Teddy,  who supposedly serviced stars like Robert Taylor, Tyrone Power, and Cary Grant.  He spent most of his freetime dressed in drag but he died in the 1970's before the advent of AIDS.

I have my doubts about this guy's veracity.

Your probably right, Insideguy

Maybe the author is pitching it for a screenplay or something? But its a pretty elaborate story, and I'm a sucker for that old Hollywood stuff. Anyway, I enjoyed the read even if, like you, I found it very hard to believe.
