ATWT video clip update: Other gay boys in Oakdale — and they like to party!

Today Lily & Holden assume junior detective duties, freeing Luke and Noah up to go to the neighborhood malt coffee shop.

Apparently, this coffee shop also doubles as Oakdale's gay hangout because "Redge", President of Oakdale U's gay student group, shows up to buttonhole Luke and do a bit of leering over Noah.

That Redge is cute but looks like trouble if you ask me.

Redge invites the boys to a weekend cabin getaway with a bunch of Abercrombie & Fitch models gay Oakdale U students. The key selling point? They'll have their own bedroom. Noah is tired of sleeping in the Snyder farm barn and is very keen on the idea, but Luke is hesitant. Can he leave for the weekend when his parents are prime suspects in a murder case? Also, is their monogamous relationship solid enough to withstand the temptations of drugs, alcohol, and nude hot tubbing with hunky guys?

Will the boys accept the invitation and enjoy a gay old weekend in the woods? We all know how their last camping trip turned out. Check out the video clip after the break to see what the boys decide.

    This is hilarious...

... am I suddenly watching Queer As Folk? It's like they took all the gayness that wasn't in the last however many episodes and crammed it all into this one. Well, until Noah gives Luke the Censored Homosexual Cheek Kiss, that is. Then I suddenly feel like I'm back in the 1990s.

    Still... this was pretty awesome.

    It's really fascinating

Straights in soap opera behave in highly codefied ways that have little to do with how people behave in real life. Now they've got gay characters and have to make up new rules. Clearly two hot guys like Luke and Noah would be all over each other in nanoseconds in real life. Here there are complications. Forst there was Psycho Dad shooting Luke, then Granma's gettign fidgety abotu sleeping arrangements. Now they've met a bunch of Wild Gay Party Boys and therefore must distinguish themselves as seriosu a non-sex-crazed -- while at the same time yearing away like a house on fire. Clearly the Deed Will Be Done real soon. WAY off screen of course.

I loved the contrast between Nuke and Emily-Chris-Paul

The two gay teens being all romantic and virtuous with each other while that slut Emily tries to seduce Chris while Paul hides in the closet! Best episode in months!

    I got whip-lash.....

...watching this episode. I laughed out loud at most of it. But I was annoyed at the "all the other gay boys in town are into booze/drugs/hottubsex/orgy and only Luke and Noah are good boys" thing. All the huffy ("those damn queers taking up space in our soap opera") straight people will not notice the contrast of the Emily/Chris/Paul scene intercut with the virtuous Nuke boys. They will only go "see? Just as we thought". But aside from that, I loved this episode because it seems the writers are trying to go "where no (american) soap has gone before". If they keep it up, the right wingers will settle down and get over it. (okay, I can dream, right?) Meanwhile, they have done exactly what they set out to do....make all us Nuke fans have no choice but watch every show just in case.

BTW- I can't WAIT until that spoiler pic of snick's happens!

    I Think They Heard Us

This episode has a COMPLETELY different tone than everything we've seen up to now.  Somebody at ATWT has made some changes and I'd like to think our whining and the online polls have had a hand in that.  It's still bizarre that they don't kiss each other on the lips, especially when the scenes are so emotional and romantic, but this is progress.

It did feel a bit like Queer as Folk at times, especially when BONG said Noah was hot.

Liveblog was great again today.  I just love Luke burning his mouth on the coffee after all that's been written about Noah's coffee obsession.  I'm dying to know if Van or Jake ever reads the liveblogs.  I get the feeling they'd find them as hilarious as we do.

I Think They Heard Us Too

You're right, I think they heard our complaints.  I don't know how much in advance ATWT is taped, but about a month ago we all let out a huge outcry...and perhaps this is their way of apologizing, or doing a course correction.

Global cut out an entire Nuke scene

I have a huge beef with Global's broadcast of this episode in Canada. As I was watching it, the dialogue didn't seem to make sense during the second Nuke scene. After re-watching all the Nuke clips for this episode online, I discovered that the entire second scene with Nuke was left out of the Global broadcast - the scene after Noah was introduced to Reg, while they were still sitting and talking at the coffee shop, and before Noah gives Luke a pretzel. That's almost a minute and a half edited out so that Global could show more commercials instead! I think that's totally unacceptable. Did anyone else notice this? I'd like to complain to someone at Global but am not sure where to go to do this.

    Missed that

Sorry, I'm in Canada too, but as I'm only watching Nuke online I would not have caught this.

Too bad they could not have cut something out from another story line.

Not sure who you would complain to.

    Edit : try this :

    I"m sorry, but I couldn't

I"m sorry, but I couldn't watch Nuke scenes with a straight face (pun very much intended as I already said it seems they are no longer the only gays in the village). for some reason all Luke's lines were causing me to giggle like mad. Maybe it's because of the NUKE withdrawl. Or maybe because all this is so incredibly hilarious...

Gosh, how I missed the boys!

    Janet's picture

    cut scenes?

That's ridiculous. First CBC doing it to Torchwood and now Global? I watch ATWT on channel 3 (CBS) instead of channel 11 (Global) not for any particular reason but now I will make sure not to watch it on Global. Gays can get married here but nobody is allowed to watch them? I wonder if it is purely for extra commercial space or if there are some phobes pulling strings. I could think of lots of other endlessly annoying scenes they should cut instead of the boys.

    If Global simulcasts...

If Global does the common Canadian broadcast practice of "simulcasting", that means they're allowed to substitute their broadcast over the U.S. network broadcast, so switching channels doesn't do any good, unless you can receive over-the-air signals directly from the American broadcast tower.
