ATWT video clip update: "Cover your dirty pillows Ameera - Luke's moving in."
Today's episode starts with Noah rebuffing a vamped out Ameera. That's right, she's traded the head scarf and frumpy smock for a very revealing low cut dress. She looks good, but those perky dirty pillows are wasted on Noah, who tells her he doesn't "go for that." Not unless he's good and liquored up first. In a panic, he calls Luke for backup. Luke decides the only thing to do is move in so he can keep an eyeon his man. Will Ameera hide her sexy self under a potato sack again and go along with this new living arrangement?

The kiss clip has been flagged at youtube.
So I sent them this little missive:
There is a clip posted of the characters of Luke and Noah from As the World Turns kissing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd9xCntVqc4) and for some unfathomable reason it has been "flagged" as inappropriate for individuals under the age of 18.
This is deeply and unsettlingly offensive to me. For comparison, this compilation of kisses between ATWT's heterosexual couple, Carly and Jack (http://youtube.com/watch?v=P5UUCukwCTY) is not flagged, and yet it is even more passionate.
I understand that it is viewers that "flag" videos as inappropriate, but there must be a mechanism to prevent abuse of the device and, more importantly, bigoted discrimination, because that is precisely what this is.
I sincerely hope that you will address this issue and make the necessary corrective action to prevent such prejudice from inflitrating your otherwise wonderful website.

gay flagging at YouTube
Joseph thanks for bringing this up and for the perfect comparison. It is something that has bothered me for some time about YouTube.
I wonder if others feel the same way so I have taken the initiative to start a forum topic here (YouTube supports Bigotry.) Perhaps we can discuss this further and explore ways to address the unfair treatment of GLBT at YouTube.

For a while there was the idea of flagging every clip we can find with heterosexual kisses as inappropriate. I don't know if anyone ever did that, but I think it's a good idea. I don't know though if youtube might put restrictions on your account if you flag stuff that shouldn't be flagged, but then they'd have to do the same to those who flag gay kisses. It's strange anyway because I've seen gay sex scenes on youtube that were pretty graphic and hasn't been flagged.

PLOT PUZZLE
Psionycx and others have pointed to the absurdities in the Ameera plot and I am truly curious about the s/l on several points. Granted, I stopped watching after the Christmas/New Years fiasco insulting anti-gay episodes, but as I catch up, following "the new kiss" Wednesday, and have followed this Nuke/ameera s/l somewhat on this blog, have any of the following questions been explained &/or answered?
1. How did Ameera a teenage girl from Iraq, on her own, and from a destitute family situation get on a plane to the U.S.?
2. How did she actually get into the country? As someone who travels internationally often, getting through customs & passport is not easy unless you have the proper paperwork...this is especially true if you're coming from a country on the "sensitive" list - which Iraq is!
3. Who was her sponsor?
4. How did she get to Oakdale which is not geographically close to NYC's JFK, Atlanta's Hartfield terminal, or Logan Int'l Boston? Ok, maybe she managed to fly into O'Hare - but SeaTac, LAX or SFO would be a true logistical nightmare!
5. There are so many "other" of these kinds of questions, that the s/l lacks any kind of verisimilitude or credence. Is the "normal" ATWT audience so ignorant that these obvious questions would never cross their minds?
6. Apparently there was a Col. Mayer connection - but really, Luke & Noah buying into, "he was nice to me!".....oh please, Hitler loved Eva Braun and was nice to children, but somehow that doesn't make up for killing 6 million Jews, 50,000 gay men, and scores & scores of university professors who opposed him and his Nazi kind. Granted, Col. M didn't kill millions, but he did brutally murder Noah's mother and tried very hard to murder Luke - "Go figure!" I cannot.
In spite of the earthshattering and exciting kisses from Wednesday, the current s/l is truly insipid and so flaw-filled that it's difficult to comprehend how people could possibly buy into the story.......unless of course, somehow during the time I was away (Dec.Jan 07.08 and now) the above questions were explained and answered.
Thanks for any clarifications that might be out there which I missed.
Twister in Iraq brought Ameera to Jokedale
Just to clue you in on how Ameera got here. She was coming home from school one day with her trusty dog Saddam and close behind her was that evil school teacher Ms. Al-Liki. Before she could make it all the way home, a twister hit the city and a flying camel hit Ameera on the head. She was knocked unconsious and the next thing she knew, she was in Jokedale.
As you know, ATWT has the dumbest writers on the planet. They have NEVER said squat about how she made it to the states. This leads most of us to believe she is a phony and working for Daddy Dearest in some way. More than likely to break up Luke and Noah, the neutered gay couple. Look back when you were an active viewer. Did they ever explain anything? Storylines had a reputation of never continuing where they left off the previous week. This entire soap has no credence to any of the characters.

You ask such logical questions that ultimatly have no meaning in that alternate dimension called "the soapworld". If I had a penny for each of these nonsensical plot point Ive seen on soaps I would be very rich now. And this days ATWT is exceling at it.
I must say that american soaps are particulary prone to fall into this kind of thing. Soaps Ive seen from other places may be badly acted, full of camp, etc, etc; but they keep close to reality, for the most part. I believe its because of the format of the shows, both in US and out.
Ive asked myself the same question about how the writers feel about the viewers intelligence. Now, I get when toddler is the show on friday and monday hes 15 year old, but hey, some of this stuff really makes you wonder.
As for Ameera, maybe she teleported like everyone in Oakdale has been doing latelly. The people of Oakdale should embrace the technology and corner the market NOW.
gay boys jumping
A woman at the CBS boards tells the story that she had talked to her 72 year old mother on the phone, they both watch ATWT. Her mom said:
"Those two gay boys were jumping on the bed today with their shirts off, but I don't understand why."
I think a lot of viewers are so confused by the story-line that even the simplest plot points no longer make sense.

5. Every ATWT board I've been to has brought up these obvious questions but many viewers seem ignorant or don't care.

Word of the insipid nature of the story-line is spreading. Many older viewers seem to be completely confused by it.
