Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- If you're a fan of vampires as gay metaphor then you can rejoice! After airing only two episodes HBO has renewed Alan Ball's Louisiana fang-fest True Blood for a second season! The debut episode got 4 million viewers, and the second episode grew that audience an unprecedented 24%! Most TV shows (even successful ones) drop off after their premieres.
- Speaking of hasty renewals, after just three eps TNT's Raising the Bar (which features in its central cast a closeted gay character) has been renewed for another 15-episode season. Didn't see that one coming!

- Project Runway fave Jack Mackenroth has launched Living Postive By Design, a national HIV and AIDS education campaign aimed at raising awareness and wiping out stigma surrounding people living with the disease.

- On Top Magazine has published their list of the best gay cities to live in. No surprise, San Francisco tops the list, but the order foir the rest of the top 10 is interesting..
1. San Francisco; 2. Sydney; 3. New York, 4. Mykonos; 5. Paris;
6. Barcelona; 7. Amsterdam, 8. London, 9. Copenhagen, 10. Berlin

True - ly good news
Great news about True Blood, love this show.
Extremely bad news about Xanadú, I wont be able to see it. Sighhhhh.
Woohoo Barcelona!
And this guy is hunky fireman and calendar boy Mike Biserta, yum. Sigh.
Top Ten Cities
Did they simply pick cities without knowing anything about them?
New York used its legal department to successfully oppose gay marriage equality; if you read the ruling you'd never set foot in New York again.
Sydney has a major homphobic violence problem.
Mykonos has only 9500 residents - hardly a city - and Greece has a very bad gay rights record.
San Francisco is too expensive for younger gay or straight people to afford, and its gay Halloween festivities were canceled by the city.
Berlin and London are better than Paris when it comes to integration and acceptance of the out and about gay community.
IMHO for cities over 50000 people, the list should read 1) Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain, 2) Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 3) Los Angeles, California, USA, 4) Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, 5) Berlin, State of Berlin, Germany, 6) London, England, United Kingdom, 7) Buenos Aires (The Autonomous Community, not the Province which is different), Argentina, 8) Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, 9) Zurich, Zurich Canton, Switzerland, 10) Brussels, Brussels Province, Belgium
Numbers 11 thru 30 with populations over 50000 would be...
11) Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv Region, Israel, 12) Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, 13) Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands, 14) Vienna, Wien Province, Austria, 15) Vancouver-Victoria combined metro, British Columbia, Canada, 16) Auckland, Auckland Region, New Zealand, 17) Florence, Tuscany, Italy, 18) Perth, State of Western Australia, Australia, 19) Antwerp, Antwerpen Province, Belgium, 20) Reykjavik, Iceland, 21) Oslo, Oslo Fylke, Norway, 22) Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 23) Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 24) Sao Paulo, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, 25) Teresina, Piaui, Brazil, 26) Paris, Ile-De-France Department, France , 27) Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, 28) Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, 29) Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, 30) Salvador, Bahia, Brazil
Your list seems a lot
Your list seems a lot more sensible than the one published by On Top. How, did you rate them? What was the criteria that you used?
If By Gay You Mean Totally Freaking Awesome, Then Yeah, I Guess It's Pretty Gay

When I read the above list I
Raising the Bar broke
Raising the Bar broke records in its premiere for TNT. The viewership has fallen off a bit, but I don't see it as hasty in the least.
Thrilled that True Blood has been renewed. Very intrigued by this show.
True Blood ratings
True Blood
Although I'm not a hundred percent committed to True Blood just yet, I'm hoping it'll pull at least decent enough ratings to at least finish out the season. I really don't want it to go out like that silly surfer/Jesus Christ comedy (the producers may have intended it to be a drama, but sadly they just couldn't reach that wave) that HBO had to kill Deadwood (RIP) for.
Xanadu closing?
Please tell me Xanadu is going on tour after it closes, hopefully with Cheyenne Jackson still playing Sonny Malone! I'd hate to miss seeing him singing and skating on stage live - in those shorts - just because I couldn't make it to New York...
Xanadu Tour
The national tour of Xanadu will kick off in November at the La Jolla Playhouse, followed by a six-month run at Chicago's Drury Lane Theatre. Additional tour dates will be announced after that.
Cheyenne Jackson's career is really hot right now, so I wouldn't expect him to go out on tour. Same with Kerry Butler, plus she has young kids. I could see them possibly playing La Jolla, as it's close to L.A., and then moving on.
Thanks for the tip!
