As we go into the weekend, here's a handy shortlist of the biggest stories of the week on AfterElton.com. And to get you into a playful mood, each Friday's final post will feature a pic up top that desperately needs captioning. Each week we'll pick our fave suggestion from the comments and run it in the following week's post. Have fun!
Chad Allen, Adam Grimes & Daniel Leary
- Our own Brent Hartinger seems to be preoccupied with "bears" this week. In his Ask the Monkey column on Tuesday he gives a shout out to the Oxy-Clean guy, Billy Mays. Then in this week's BGWE column he pays tribute to some of pop culture's greatest bears and invites readers to share their own bear icons.
- Brian Juergens reviews Little Britain USA which premieres this Sunday on HBO. He also snags an interview with creators Matt Lucas & David Walliams.
- Survivor Gabon kicked off on Thursday and features a bromance between gay Charlie and straight Marcus. Their relationship is simultaneously cringe-inducing (could Charlie be any more clingy?) and heartening (affable Marcus is not at all fazed that Charlie has an obvious crush on him, and if anything is flattered by it). Will this be a bromance for the ages (a la Make Me a Supermodel's Ronnie & Ben) or will their gay/straight friendship flame out in typical backstabbing/scheming Survivor fashion? This could be a Survivor season worth tuning in for.

- Blogger Rob Smith posted a photo list of his 10 favorite Hot Guys of Fall TV, which has been generating a lot of discussion among readers about who they think should be added to the list of hotties.
- Lance Bass acquitted himself well in the first week of Dancing with the Stars, but Cloris Leachman may well be the standout for her scene stealing antics. If you haven't been following the show it has so far been a hoot. Check out Dan Fricker's DWTS recaplets to get up to speed.
- Michael Jensen blogs about GLAAD's recent report on an increase in gay TV visibility. While it may technically be true that there are more gay characters on television - it's a question of quality not just quantity. Michael doesn't quite see the rosy picture that GLAAD paints.

Fascinating NYT article
No offense to Candis Cayne...
...but a "big star" she is not; pick any random person in Peoria and they could identify Neil Patrick Harris or even T.R. Knight, but I'd bet 99.9% of them have never even heard of Ms. Cayne.
I'd like to see a studio take a chance on NPH in a smart romantic comedy opposite, oh, Anna Faris. I don't think audiences would have a problem with it at all.

I quite agree about NPH
Articles like this always remind me of the Bugs Bunny cartoons where Yosemite Sams says "I DARE you cross that line!" Bugs does, so Sam draws another line and says "I DARE you to cross that line!" and so forth. For eons we were told that coming out was a career-killer. Well NPH is bigger than ever, and T.R. is doing quite nicely too. Chad Allen has a had a real rollercoaster ride of a career. But he's steadily employed now and will continue to be so. Meanwhile Bryan Batt plays one of the most interesting characters on The Show That Everone's Talking About.
All these arguments are whether the glass is half empty or half full. No one seems to recall that only a few years ago there wasn't a glass at all!

Leading phrenologists consulted by concerned friends and relations agree that, while Michael's technique could use a bit of refining, he probably has done no permanent damage to young Hunter's brain pan. Their consensus: Hunter was already a bit goofy.
