Your Asshat of the Week: Fort Worth Police Dept.

Our asshat nominees this time out included a soap opera actress who refused to play gay-friendly, a celebrity biographer, an aging rocker, and a Texas police department.

Proving you "don't mess with Texas" the Fort Worth boys in blue (together with state alcohol and beverage control officers) won for their heavy-handed raid on a newly opened gay bar called the "Rainbow Lounge."

The raid was unwittingly (we hope) conducted on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots and sent one unfortunate bar patron to the hospital with a blood clot on the brain. The incident promped one of our bloggers, Momo Hassan to wonder how the Fort Worth police might commemorate other civil rights anniversaries...
