News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Avatar of the Week: CeCe

Call it Avatar of the Week: The “We Love the Ladies” edition.

This time out we thought we’d celebrate the many female members of the AfterElton.com community. Their participation and comment contributions truly enrich our site. There are so many to honor, I’m just sorry I can only pick three.

Gabriella is an 18 year old Los Angeles resident who describes herself as a straight but very gay-friendly girl – pro-gay marriage and pro-gay love." Well, we love Gabriella and value her many comment contributions to our site.

Hey Gabriella, who’s the hottie in your avatar pic? Cute as he is, we’ love to see you!

Second up is TinyRobot, who hails from the great state of Texas and describes herself as...

“a gay man trapped in a fabulous lesbian body. I love musicals, sci fi, dinner parties, and celebreality. I lean left politically and never pass up an opportunity for a well-crafted cocktail. I'm obsessed with pop culture and watch an unhealthy amount of tv. I also hike, bike, and share 2 cats with my wonderful partner of 11 years.”

I am particularly fond of Tiny's avatar pic which looks like a Vargas girl crossed with a spinster librarian. The Dewey Decimal system was never such a turn on!

Our winner this week is CeCe. She describes herself as an “Ally. Married working mom of two who believes and teaches equality -- real, total, absolute equality.”

We love ya CeCe, and wish every kid out there (particularly the gay ones) had a Mom as cool as you to raise them up right.

We also love your avatar, although it makes us very sad given yesterday's tragic news about Heath Ledger. In fact, that avatar compels us to recognize CeCe as Avatar of the Week for an unprecedented second time. (CeCe was actually our first ever winner.)

Congrats to runners up Gabriella and TinyRobot and a special tip of the hat to two-time winner CeCe.

    Thanks, y'all. As you can see, I read more than I comment here (because who could do better than you all???), but I love you guys (and gals) so so much! I truly rely on this place every day (many, many times a day) to remind me that there are still good, thoughtful, intelligent people out there. {{{AE}}}

    Heath. GAH. I'm still in shock. I read Michael's "body blow" blog, and all the comments, and haven't stopped crying since. Everything Heath's portrayal of Ennis Del Mar meant to you all, it meant to me as well. I truly believe Brokeback was a huge leaping-forward kind of thing for our backwardass culture to witness, and our world is forever changed because of it. I am so thankful Heath was here, and that that movie happened in my lifetime. I am also forever changed because of it.

    My heart is broken for Heath and his family, and for everyone who is saddened by his death. He was too good for this world, perhaps.

    Thanks again for noticing my sad, sad Ennis. *sigh*
