Avatar of the Week: Trogdor the Burninator

Welcome to Avatar of the Week: The Angels & Sinners Edition. Today we look at three AfterElton.com members with heaven on their minds. Say a prayer for them.

Up first is Knickie, whose selection of avatar makes me seriously want to believe in heaven. Forget the streets paved with gold. I wanna see those hotties with halos!

Knickie is a 37-year-old teacher who's literary favorites include The Front Runner, Gone with the Wind, and The Commitment by Dan Savage.

Next up we have Scot Pomfret who is a Boston-based lawyer and writer. He has a memoir coming out in June called Since My Last Confession. The book is about his experiences as a gay Catholic in Massachusetts during the same-sex marriage debates. From the publisher:

Since My Last Confession is a funny, irreverent faith journey by a gay Catholic pursuing his Archbishop in the style of Michael Moore’s Roger & Me that answers the perennial question, “What’s a Nice Gay Catholic Part-time Porn Writer Doing in a Nasty Church Like This?”

Sounds like it could be an interesting read. To find out more about Scot and his book check out his website here.

Our winner this week was brought to my attention by AfterElton.com member, Campion. His name is Trogdor the Burninator and his animated avatar does double duty as a cogent illustrative lesson in biblical scripture. Christian fundies like to beat us over the head with old testament proscriptions against homosexuality, but they often conventiently forget what else Leviticus considered abominable sin. Trogdor's avatar is a great little reminder!

So congrats to Knickie & Scot Pomfret, and a special tip of the theological hat to Trogdor the Burninator!

Credit for two of those icons

The gorgeous one -- Angel Brian -- is the work of two people: the original manip was made by teary_eyed2 and the icon was made by qafmaniac, both of whom can be found at both livejournal and insanejournal.

The brilliant Leviticus icon is by whitetower, also at livejournal.

And I agree, they are two of my favorites!

I want to thank the Academy...

And say that it is an honor just to be nominated!
