Avatar of the Week: Alcyon

I can’t believe a whole week has passed since our last selection for Avatar of the Week.

There’s been some internal debate around here as to whether we should pick winners solely on the artistic merits of their avatars, or whether we should also consider other worthy factors such as comment contributions, or how cute they are. (Okay, I'm kidding about that last one, I swear!)

[img_assist|nid=8730|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=121|height=175]Anyway, we’re still hashing it all out, but for this week at least I’ve decided to be completely arbitrary and, without explanation, consider whatever the heck I want in making my choices. Like Bush, I am the decider! Well this week, anyway. So here are my capricious selections:

Our second runner up this week is new member, dizzyspins. We just love his pic of Nikki from HBO’s Big Love. Though if dizzy is anything like his avatar-sake, he should stay away from the video poker… and he also might consider less frumpy attire. Sister-wife's blouse is tragic. Hey, speaking of Big Love, here’s hoping “Alby” gets outed next season so we can devote some coverage to this great show. But I digress.

First runner up for Avatar of the Week is Anthony D. Langford. Anthony hails from Washington, D.C. My old hometown! Anthony is a baseball fan and, judging from his thoughtful comments, seems to have an encyclopedic, insider’s knowledge of television. Which makes me wonder: what the heck are you doing in DC, Anthony? You really should be in LA.

He takes it for his trippy, psychedelic avatar that variously reminds me of: 1. a bad mushroom trip; 2. that dreidel deity that showed up several seasons ago on an episode of South Park; and 3. Brad Garrett getting sucked into the vortex of blender drink.
