Avatar of the Week: Bucky55

Call it Avatar of the Week: International Men of Mystery edition. This week I thought I’d focus on enigmatic avatars (and profiles) that raise more questions about their owners than they answer. My hope is that these guys will write back with more info because they have me really curious.

First up is MichaelC who makes it to the list primarily for his blood-soaked pic of a shaved-headed guy emerging from a lake of gore. I hope that’s not actually you Michael, else you got some real splainin’ to do. Is the picture from (or inspired by) Apocalypse Now maybe?

From his bio we know that MichaelC is British but resides in Australia. We also know that he came out when he was twelve (precocious!) and was born January 5^th, 2008 – which would make him sort of time traveler. Michael we want more details about your time travels and your experiences in a lake of gore. Is there something we need to know about the future of mankind?

Second up is psychometric. His avatar pic suggests that psychometric is a fun-loving guy who likes to kick up his heels, and yet the entirety of his profile bio is: “I’m shy.” I think he’s being disingenuous.

psychometric's profile has some curious comments in the Favorite Gay Characters section. He's a big fan of Project Runway 2's Daniel V and Emmett from Queer as Folk, but he seems to have a visceral dislike for Will & Grace's Will.  "What a spoiled, whiny GUPPY; all too much like the reality of well-educated homos." Okay, that sounds a little harsh, which makes me wonder if maybe a well-educated GUPPY homo didn't once break psychometric's heart.

Psycho, do please tell us more about yourself. Are you a big fan of water parks? They make me a little nervous what with all the little kiddies in diapers and training pants splashing around. You’re a braver man than I.

The winner this week is Bucky55. From his bio:

Older Proud Gay Man who has been out since 1962, and was at Stonewall and Woodstock.

In my book, anyone who has been out since 1962 would be a fascinating person to talk to. And you were at both Stonewall and Woodstock? I want details/pics!

I’d also like to know about the painting Bucky used for an avatar pic. I think I’ve seen it somewhere before but don’t recall who the artist is. Can anyone identify?
