Avatar of the Week: GentsCanineSociety

Greetings and Happy Halloween! If you were expecting a spooky-themed Avatar of the Week selection then I'm sorry to disappoint. Simply not enough scary AfterElton.com avatars to choose from. But what we do seem to have a surfeit of around here are animal lovers! So consider this the Avatar of the Week: "Boys and Their Dogs" edition. First up, we have longtime frequent contributor JBE.

One of the things I love about JBE's avatar pic is that it changes so frequently. The most recent image has him in his teens cavorting in nature with a German Shepherd. Possibly a childhood pet? JBE lives in Ontario with his partner of ten years and you can find out more about him via his myspace page.

Next up we have new member, LuvBigDogs. And by "big dogs" he means Saint Bernards.

I'm a fan of Saint Bernards too - particularly the ones that have barrels of whiskey strapped to their collars.

LuvBigDogs is a registured nurse now living in Nevada. From his profile:

I spent 11 years in the military ("out" most of it) and left to go to Nursing School in 1994. Besides working, I am a Christian, an avid hunter, shooter, amateur radio operator, love big dogs (especially Saint Bernard's), have been a fan of "As the World Turns" for ages, and enjoy the outdoors of Nevada and California.

Finally, I'm happy to announce our winner, GentsCanineSociety, who is clearly a devoted fan of his dog. His avatar (pic left) shows him posing with an adorable (though somewhat over-accessorized) bulldog named "Kobey-Rose."

The site is chock full of great photos of all sorts of dogs (and their owners), and I couldn't resist sharing the one below. Seems appropriate for Halloween...
