Battle of the Network Gays: October 22, 2009
Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television (or pop culture in general) and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week. We'll announce the winner on Friday, and that champ will reign until a new set of challengers are introduced the following week to try to steal his title. Last week, Oliver Fish took the crown for his handy way with a taser gun. This week we've got four new contenders vying for the throne: Three of them are coming out stories, the fourth involves a purloined kiss. Check them out after the break, and vote for your favorite! This week's contenders:
B.D. Wong
Jonathan Groff (right) with Gavin Creel at the March on Washington
Josh and Chuck (Ed Westwick): Who's playing who? Vote for your favorite by 10 PM EDT Today. And be sure to check back tomorrow on the blog to see which network gay our readers have carried to glory! Submitted by on Thu, 2009-10-22 12:47. |

Definitely Dónal
I voted for the athlete.
Given the choice between 2 fictional characters, a Broadway actor, and an athlete I figure you elimnate the fictional then of the two real people it is a tough choice. I love Jonathan Groff but I doubt his coming out shocked many people since he was a Broadway actor who really didn't make it a secret.
I voted for Dónal because more athletes need to come out.
I agree
and I think Jonathan Groff might be dating MY man Gavin Creel (NO confirmation LOL). Still love Groff anyway.
And while Donal might have ths support of his team, the fans & press did not have a very favorable reaction. Hope he has a partner at home to Give him a Hug.

God loves all her children,
even the straight ones.
BD Wong
I voted for him just for the common sense he brings to the role. My question for those who ask why so long is why was it necessary?. He is accepted and unless it has a reason to be in the story his sexuality was none of anyone's concern. He makes a comment and that's that. Why are are so many obsessed with outing every character that even remotely could be gay. In real life do we really have to have a gay point of view for everything. Unless we work in a gay related field then business/work related talk is not going to have anything gay about it.
THe voting closed?
What wid dat? today is the 22nd and tomorrow is the 23rd. DUH!!!!
For the record my vote was behind B.D. Wong because of his open honesty about his sexuality. SVU has been very gay inclusive and that this story was the right time for the reveal because it is very important to make that distinction between homosexuality and pedophillia.
That's all I am saying...
