Battle of the Network Gays: December 03, 2009

Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television (or pop culture in general) and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week. We'll announce the winner on Friday, and that champ will reign until a new set of challengers are introduced the following week to try to steal his title.

Last week everyone was off for the Thanksgiving weekend, so no one was crowned. We're back with a vengeance this week with four fine contenders courtesy of a jealous cop, an album drop, a change in Facebook relationship status, and a gay son's hockey-infused coming out story.

Check them out after the break, and vote for your favorite!

This week's contenders:

  • One Life to Live's Oliver Fish (played by Scott Evans). Oliver's become quite a fixture around here. We thought he deserved a nod this week for not ripping Nick's arm off when he saw it draped across Kyle's shoulder.
  • Million Dollar Listing's Madison Hildebrand set tongues wagging this week when he came out. Again. He was asked to participate in Adam Bourska's NOH8 photo shoot, and that inspired him to reflect on his personal life. The result being he clarified his orientation — from "polyamorous" to "gay." Good for him!
  • Adam Lambert may have hit a bumpy patch what with continued fallout from his AMA performance, but it's not all bad news for the singer. His album just dropped and sold 198,000 copies in its first week. If you're keeping score, that's more than double the 80,000 albums Kris Allen's album sold its first week.
  • Finally, we have Brendan Burke, son of hockey legend Brian Burke. (The elder Burke currently coaches the Toronto Maple Leafs while Brendan works for the #1 ranked Miami U. hockey team.) Brendan recently came out to his family and his college team, and wonder of wonders, found nothing but support. It's enough to turn you into a hockey fan!
