Battle of the Network Gays: July 30, 2009

Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week. We'll announce the winner in Friday's Best Gay Week Ever column, and that champ will reign until a new set of challengers are introduced the following week to try to steal his title.

For three weeks in a row you voted Captain Jack and Ianto into the seat of honor, but Torchwood: Children of Earth is over and, in any case *** spoiler alert ***  half of team "Janto" is taking a dirt nap, so this week we have four new contenders vying for the crown.

Check them out, and vote for your favorite!

This week's contenders:

Jack Mackenroth, formerly of Project Runway. Why? This week the former reality show contestant was in Copenhagen competing as a swimmer in OUTGAMES 2009. Proving he has much more than fashion skills, Jack is bringing home two silver medals and a bronze!

Kathy Griffin from My Life on the D-List.  Why? Okay, so she's not technically gay, but surely she deserves an honorary nomination for her vocal support for gay marriage on this week's episode of her show. Check out the clip below...

Stephen Hampton. Why? The out gay Mormon was the only male contestant on season 2 of Paris Hilton's BFF, and he made it all the way to the top three before getting eliminated this week. He gets a nod here because, from our perspective, not becoming Paris Hilton's BFF is something to be celebrated! Also, he already seems quite comfortable in a crown.

Russell Tovey. Why? The out British actor is finally getting some major U.S. exposure now that his series Being Human debuted on BBC America this week. We love Tovey's performance as a werewolf (albeit a straight one), and it doesn't hurt that he shows his bum a lot!

Vote for your favorite by 11 PM EDT today. And be sure to check back tomorrow on the blog to see which network gay our readers have carried to glory!
