Meet the new Walker: "Brothers & Sisters" casts half-brother Ryan

After a months-long casting search where a number of better-known names were bandied about (Jason Dohring of Veronica Mars, and Gregory Smith of Everwood) the producers of Brothers & Sisters went with a relative unknown to fill the role of Ryan Lafferty, the long lost Walker half-sibling.

After the break we've got some info on the young actor and just about every available picture of him out there. Click on through to learn more.

Turns out those production stlls of Eric Christian Olsen and a developmentally challenged Will McCormack were simply a red herring. Brother Ryan won't make his appearance on the show until early 2009, and when he does he'll be played by Luke Grimes.

The 24-year-old actor's previous credits include the 2006 teen slasher pic All the Boy Love Mandy Lane (in which his character meets a very bad end), and a small part in the upcoming Mischa Barton vehicle, Assassination of a High School President. (I know, it begs the obvious question — who gives Mischa Barton a vehicle?)

Slim resume aside, the boy certainly has a look, doesn't he? In some pictures he sort of reminds me of River Phoenix. Just a hunch but I'm guessing he also has to have some acting chops to have landed this part. So AfterEltonites, what do you think? Happy with the casting pick?

To help you decide, we've pulled together just about every Luke Grimes pic out there. Enjoy!
