We're trying to get independent confirmation on this, but E Online's Ted Casablanca is reporting that Cheyenne Jackson will be signing on for a reoccurring role on 30 Rock.
Casablanca's sources say Jackson has already begun filming scenes and that an official announcement via NBC should come later this week.
If true, this is fantastic! Yet one more reason to watch my favorite sitcom. Any conjecture on what sort of part Jackson would be playing? I don't quite see him as a new love interest for Tina Fey's Liz Lemon. Perhaps some long lost relation to Alec Baldwin's Jack Donaghey?

Unfair!
This is so unfair - my DVRs can't handle another Thursday show in the 9pm hour. I enjoy 30 Rock, but had long ago resigned myself tonot watching it because of conflicts. This changes the equation though.
While I don't personally see him as a love interest for Tina Fey, I like the concept of casting a gay actor as the straight romantic interest to the lead. Helps prove it can be done convincingly.
All that said, there doesn't seem to be a lot of opportunity to get Cheyenne down to minimal clothing on 30 Rock, which is a shame.

I wonder if his role has anything to do with Tina Fey's mini-spoiler she gave to Michael Ausiello on the red carpet. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think it is. She revealed on the red carpet that there's going to be a upcoming story arc for Jenna, who is going to get "into a high profile relationship with a movie star" who are "arranged by their agents" which she claims that the wonderful Jane Krakowski doesn't even know the plot details of. Jane, who was standing beside Tina at the time, wonders if she's going to be a beard for the said actor, and Tina retorts that it's in the same frame but it's going to be weirder than that! Tina is never one for clichés, I wonder how she's going to put a twist on this!
