Dennis is at the Arclight cinema in Hollywood for a weeklong documentary film festival. He's just seen Smile 'til it Hurts: The Up With People Story and he speaks with Eric Roos, one of the people to appear in that documentary. Eric shares his experiences as a closeted gay person in the early 1980's in the "Up With People" organization: The uplifting songs, the preposterous dance moves, the repressed sexuality.

Romp through the idea of a
Photo's from 1972 or whatever don't help make the point. . .bubble hair and thin ties were a good decade or more before Roos had his unfortunate/bitter experience.
Where are they now?
This should be instructive for bloggers who seem to have conflated UWP with the cultural revolution of the '60s.
