Gay in the UK video blog (Ep. 25): Rome and Romans
It's Tim's birthday and after celebrating with cake, a news item has the guys trying to decipher passages from the book of Romans. Speaking of Romans, in the travel section, Ryan is off to Italy to visit the Coliseum, St. Peters' Square, and of course the Vatican City gay book shop! In the culture section, word on Alan Cumming's one-man show "I Bought a Blue Car Today", a new staging of Little Voice, and the guys decide which characters should be gay on Coronation Street. The guys also launch a new competition this week: Viewers who correctly answer a pop culture question have a chance to win an official Gay in the UK tea cozy! Check it out after the break!

Lol...those tea cosies look
Lol...those tea cosies look really cool. The pink one really suits you Tim ;).
About Coronation Street, there isn't just one gay character there's two. Gail's dad remember? He was like soap's first old gay man lol. And also who was that writer you were on about who had those gay affairs at Oxford? I don't think you actually mentioned his name!
And the answer is,
ironic
my parents JUST got back from italy. they said it was hotter than hell.
happy birthday Tim...don't know when it was, but i assume it passed already.
Little Voice
As for whether Diana Vickers can do the impressions - I'd take whoever plays her mother as an indication. If Lesley Sharp signs on (as is rumoured), then Vickers most likely has the chops. If it's a low-rent name, then Vickers probably only got it because of x-factor-recognition.
It was such a shame Jane Horrocks never got to play LV on Broadway - if she had, maybe she would've reprised Sally Bowles on Broadway opposite Alan Cumming in Cabaret.
Little Voice was actually done in the States without Horrocks - I think it was produced by Steppenwolf in Chicago. It closed after a week...
Yay!
Thank you for the tea
cozycosy contest! I can hardly wait to showoff my win with pride.Happy (late) Birthday Tim! Hope you got as much enjoyment out your day as you did out of that cake ;)
Ryan, I tend to agree with you in the actual effectiveness of reciting Romans from whatever version of the Bible they were using. I personally try to tune out anyone reciting anything on streetcorners and hopefully them speaking in more obscure English didn't help them win any listeners. Btw, make sure you let us know when it's your birthday too.
