Gay in the UK video blog (Ep. 36): Gay Film Special

From Tim Macavoy...

Welcome back to “Gay in the UK” (or if you’re a first time viewer, just “welcome”). We’re Tim and Ryan, your guides to what is gay, um, in the UK. The title says it all really, I need not have done that.

This episode is a film special (international translation: “movie”). Tim takes you to the 24th London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, but there is a decidedly global theme, with reviews of Plan B (Argentina), Stonewall Uprising (USA), interviews from the director and twin actors of Give Me Your Hand (France). Plus Ryan tells us how to get our hands on Strawberry and Chocolate (Cuba), and an idiot's guide to finding gay cinema!

Note from Ryan: It’s not an idiot’s guide Tim, it’s for people who don’t spend every minute of their lives schmoozing at film festivals and being a luvvie.

Fair enough Ryan!

Flying the flag for Britain we have two trailers of new films from Rikki Beadle-Blair.  “Kick Off” deals with the very current topic of homophobia in football, while “FIT” addresses the youth obsession with “gay” as a pejorative term.  Tim and Ryan were at the premiere and we can tell you the film is both Gay (meaning about homosexuals) and very un-Gay (meaning it was good).  Got that?

We also hear from Andrew Pierce of The Daily Mail, as to why the LLGFF is so important, and Tim shoots some shaky footage of the never ending parties he attended (strictly in the name of journalism, you understand).

Look out too for a pair of very confused Italians!
