GLAAD Speeches: The "Glee" cast, Wanda Sykes, Constance McMillen, Drew Barrymore

It's a shame that the GLAAD Media Awards aren't televised, because these things tend to elicit a much higher caliber of acceptance speech than the usual awards show. It would be nice if those speeches reached a larger audience. Thanks to our friends over at GLAAD we can at least bring them to AfterElton.com readers.

In the following videos we have Ryan Murphy giving props to Jane Lynch for becoming a "national icon" this year and using her increased visibility shine a spotlight on gay marriage. Ryan also giving thanks to Chris Colfer for coming out so bravely now instead of waiting until he's forty "when it doesn't matter."

Then there's Constance McMillen presenting an award to Wanda Sykes and sending a shout out to all other gay high school students across the country. Telling them it's their right to attend their prom with the person they choose – they just have to fight for that right.

Also, Vanguard Award recipient Drew Barrymore explains what it was like growing up in West Hollywood in the seventies and how the gay people she met as a child shaped her and showed her what "family" really meant.

Really touching stuff.
