Jake Nodar's Surviving the Wild (Ep. 1): Fire

Fire-starting is hands down the most important aspect of surviving in the wild. Host Jake Nodar shows you how using a variety of ingenious methods. Wondering how condoms, hair gel and light days panty liners might help you get your flame on? Check it out after the break!

What a great vlog

There's always that fantasy about 'What would I do if I were trapped out in the wild or lost on a desert island?'. So on one side, this vlog is a public service offering advice that will doubtless save the lives of millions of gay and lesbian and straight readers of AfterElton. So a big thank you for that.

But now my latest fantasy is: 'What if I were stranded on a desert island ... with Jake'. So, a much bigger thank you for that!

It's a little embarrassing

It's a little embarrassing to admit how pleased I was to see Jake here on AfterElton again. I was really hoping you guys would find a way to keep him around. While I doubt I'll be starting fires in the wilderness anytime soon, those were some pretty cool techniques.

Cool Vlog!

Great new  vlog guys! Jake surprised me with the last two techniques! The T-shirts were hysterical: Adopt Me Next Angelina and I Love Bears! Very fun! And the turkey vulture that flew in behind him and landed on the fence was a nice touch! We will all be butch in no time! The fox fur fasion show walk was funny too! Thanks Jake!

How singularly innocent I look this morning.

Lions and tigers and bears...

I think a campy take on how to handle a "bear" in the wild would be a fun yet informative vignette too!

Sweet!

Can't watch at work, but there's no WebSense that can stop me from fan-boy-ing all over this post!  Jake rocks!!!  Welcome back!

He's baaaaaack!

Yeah!  Glad Jake is back -- and with a truck load of helpful tips!  The condom technique is fantastic.  Now I have a good excuse to carry condoms when I go camping.  :)

Dancing with the Masai

Only the lovely and talented Jake Nodar could pull off the intricate choregraphy we witnessed in the video of his time with the Masai!

Well, this seals the deal.  I am officially in love with Jake.  I don't believe there is another gay man on the planet so equally in touch with both his butch and fem sides.  He makes me want to go camping and go camp!  What a man!!

Jake, I wish nothing but a lifetime of happiness for you and your boyfriend.  *looks both ways to see if anyone is watching and whispers "but if for some unforeseen reason it doesn't work out...CALL ME!"*

It's a great fun new vlog.  I love your sense of humor and I promise to watch every week.

Just being anthropologically pedantic

Were those the Masai he was with. I thought they were more like the Samburu tribe who are the ones who do all the jumping (and they really, really like jumping - they'll stand at the side of the road and jump up and down for no particular reason apart from the joy of it - they're great).

Apart from that bit of pedantry, I agree with every single other point in your post. Love the man. He's great.

hot

It's so nice to see Jake healthy again! By the end of the show, he was a little... thin, let's say. It's also nice to see him hot (in the literal sense).
