Johnny Depp is People's Sexiest Man Alive

Johnny can do no wrong!

And I love Chris Colfer, but yeah, even NPH and Adam Lambert hardly made this list, so… you might get the impression that the guys at People Magazine prefer their list to look "straight".

That's why I prefer the AE Hot 100. ;)

I do think many of these men are sexy, but it's the SAME MEN EVERY YEAR!! 

Mix it up, People!!!!! 

 

He's not a bad looking guy, but I've never found him to be sexy.  I think it's the hair...and that he often looks as if he would smell.

It's a great picture of the Glee boys, but maybe Chris Colfer wasn't included cause he's not sexy.  JMO.

Johnny Depp wouldn't have been my choice for number one.  He's never been sexy to me.  Talented, great actor, but not very sexy.

That's a truly awful photo of the always sexy Johnny, who can still look like his 21 Jump Street self 20+ years later. Such a shame...

At least Adam Lambert made the list - I'm not sure what the history of openly gay men is on the list, but I'm fairly certain it's not great.

I'm hating on People's website right now, I still haven't found a simple list of who's in the magazine, I'd presume NPH made it, but I haven't seen it yet. Anybody know how many gays made it?

I personally like Johnny Depp and think he is a fantastic actor, but I really don't find him all that sexy. And I agree, it's always the same men every single year. It does get tiring to hear how supposedly sexy Depp, Clooney, Pitt, and Damon are. They're good looking yes, but there are so many more choices out there. I can't deny that those guys are good looking, but come on People, expand your horizons a little bit. But I guess they have to appeal to their market of straight female housewives who live for that magazine (I don't mean to generalize, but since I work at a drugstore, that's mostly who buys People. Sorry. :) ) I think that expalins why the choices (except for Adam Lambert, who I'm thrilled made the list) are very "straight." But us gay guys deserve our fantasies too! Couldn't Cheyenne Jackson have made the list? But I do love that pic of the Glee guys. Matthew Morrison = YUM.

Johnny in real life = only sorta sexy.

He CAN be a good looking guy. he is handsome under all the...facial hair and blue glasses he seems to love so much.  I never understand why good looking people, man or woman, "hide" their good looking self....

but i'm not them, so who cares what i think. :-P

I actually thought robert pattinson would make the 'sexiest man alive' since...well, he's everywhere.

Johnny Depp's actual face is beautifully lined and has aged gorgeously.  It's one of the things I love most about him.

I also love that so many of his roles of the last 10 years have involved full on "drag" of one sort or another and he get's to play serious dress up and STILL get's to be a sex symbol.

He's one of those "Always going to look a bit younger than folks think he should given his age" type of handsom but he still looks his age.

He doesn't need it (no one does).  In many of the recent photos from Getty and such, you can see he's just beautiful.  I barely recognized him.  He looks like some bizarre Western version of Rhett Butler.

I love the selections they've made.  A lot more diverse in many ways than some of the other lists.

This explains why all the GLEE boys were hanging in Vegas.

I don't think Chris Colfer belongs on this list YET!  He's not really in the "sexiest men" mode.  He's more in the "cutie patootie" mode still.  Kurt hasn't even had a viable love interest yet so we don't really know what Kurt is like when he get's his sexy on. ;)

But give Chris a couple of different roles under his belt and I'm sure he'll  make it to Sexist Man Land some day.

I thought Jon Hamm had a lock on it this year, but I guess they decided that since he's "only" on a cable show, he wouldn't sell enough magazines. Johnny Depp always looks greasy and smelly to me. On talk shows he's really mousey.

Did they skip daytime actors altogether? They missed some major faces there. Brett and Scott should have made the cut for making history this year. Hottest dead guy? Austin Peck. Hottest blind guy? Michael Muhney. See? Lots of possibilities!

Of course, I haven't read People Magazine in, like, 20 years, so it's not like I have a bead on what they think sells. 

Johnny Depp? Seriously?? After that picture of Gilles??? Did they not see that pic? Damn, I've always thought that Gilles just oozes sex appeal, but that pic? Jiminy Christmas! I've never seen any chest hair on him, and it just takes him from volcanic to nuclear. Hot Damn!

Ah, well, that list is sooo subjective. It's more a list of "Who's hot right now, and has better than average looks?". Odds are Robert Pattinson will be high on that list, and in my opinion, he borders on fugly. His "appeal" is completely and totally lost on me, and just about everybody I know.

Nothing against Johnny, but he's never done it for me. I would say, right off the top of my head that Scott Evans, Chris Evans, Brett Claywell, Eric Northman, Matt Bomer, Luke MacFarlane, and Carter Oosterhouse are far, far sexier. At least they are on my list.

I don't get the appeal of Johnny Depp at all...I'm sure he's a talented actor, but he just grosses me out so much that I haven't even seen anything he's acted in.  The comments that he just looks greasey or smelly were totally on point.

Also, I generally agree that the list is very much based on "who's hot right now", and Depp didn't really do anything terrible remarkable in the last six months to a year to stand out from the crowd.   

I think the one area where I can agree with the Depp fans is that that's a particularly lame picture of him.  Not a good choice for the cover at all.

The pick of Marini is great.   Morrison looks good in the Glee guys pick...Salling looks decent, but it's not a great pic of Corey Monteith.  And I wouldn't have included Chris Colfer, either...he's cute enough, but not living in sexyville yet.

 

 

He can look styish, but he can also look 12. I wouldn't say he's too young since apparently Taylor Lautner is the new Brooke Shields, but Colfer just looks VERY young.

Johnny has never done it for me either, I just dont see the sex appeal, but he is a great actor, so maybe that has something to do with their choice, but I dont see it.... I liked the pic of Gilles, but it would be nice to see some new blood on the list. It was nice to see Matthew Morrison, Mark Salling, and Cory Monteith. Where was Jon Hamm, and John Slattery, or Bryan Batt?  I would like to have seen them on the list too, they are all really sexy, and on one of the hottest shows of the season, so where were they?

but no mention of Kevin McHale?  Great voice, and (when not on the show) has strong hipster appeal. 

But seriously, i wonder how it feels to be left off the list when all your co-stars are included.  Yikes, that's a sharp blow to the ego. 

Now, I like Johnny Depp, but to pick him *again*, especially since he's coming off a summertime flop, seems incredibly redundant. I was almost certain it was going to be Bradley Cooper, who became an A-list star with The Hangover, survived the débacle that was All About Steve and has the upcoming Valentine's Day coming up, not to mention being a regular tabloid feature thanks to his romance with Renée Zellweger. To choose Depp shows a lack of originality.

.. never got the hype about him either. Not so much the hair, well, maybe a little. Smelly, I don't know, but definitely greasy.. He may be talented, but I've only seen him once or twice I think in a movie. Seeing him on pictures though always makes me want to take a nap too. I mean, I always have the impression he's half asleep or something. Sex appeal? Certainly not. And his facial expression is always sort of the same.

The sexiest man alive for me is Matt Bomer from USA network's ''White Collar''. He's just so damn hot!! Hopefully he'll make it to your guys' Hot 100 list. :D

 

Yes, in People magazine's list of ''110 of the Hottest Guys on the Planet!'' apparently, there is only one openly gay one: Adam Lambert as ''Sexiest Rocker.'' (Or did I miss someone?) ... Matt Bomer is named ''Sexiest Rising Star'' and recalls his first kiss in fourth grade with a girl named Darcy. ... ''Glee'' is represented by the straight trio of Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison and Mark Salling. ... And People devotes 6 FULL pages (count 'em, 6 pages) to a photo spread of Jerry O'Connell in a red Speedo. But Lambert gets only a small postage-stamp size photo with the blurb: ''I love people with good energy. It's even better when you can hook up with one of them.'' I guess he didn't wanna seem ''too gay'' by saying ''I love MEN with good energy.''

GQ is a little better: Their ''Men of the Year'' issue features one openly gay guy: Neil Patrick Harris. And he gets a full-page photo; dressed in a tux as a magician, he's holding a rabbit. ... And then they feature the ''Hangover'' guys: Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Cooper. In one photo, they're all the urinal, and Helms has his back to the camera, while Cooper puts his right hand on Helms' crotch. In another spread, all three of them are in bed, lying on top of each other. And in the article, Cooper is asked if fans ask him to repeat one of his lines from the movie. And Cooper says, ''Oddly, for my character, a lot of people love saying, ''Paging Mr. Faggot.'' Geez!

I really do. I think he's sexy and interesting and I can even ignore the fact he deosnt seem to wash much. If you ask me who the sexiest man alive is I would answer jonny deep. but still I think its really weird that people's puts him at number 1.

he wasnt done anything to put him in the spotligth this year. except public enemies and he does look much better in the movie that he does in that cover pick. How can one claim a guy as the sexiest man alive and show a unflaterring pick like that?!

this lists are always so boring: deep/clooney/pitt/ackman... I'm I forget someone? it seems that one of the atributs to be the sexiest man alive is to have un establishead carear as a major hollywood film star.

but then wasnt last year that that slutty/creepy tequilla girl was chosen was the sexiest women alive in some list? nothing bets that...

As for Depp looking too smelly/grungy in real life...he has *always* looked like your college dorm drug buddy. I have a weakness for counter-culture dudes so it doesn't turn me off, but here's hoping he doesn't age as poorly as, say, Keith Richards or Chet Baker.
